FC: The Help and the Monomyth: Kailey Mason

The Call | Aibileen is asked by Skeeter to help her with the book she is working on 'The Help'. She is kind of leery about helping a 'White Girl' write a book about how African-American maids are treated. It's not a good thing for them to be meeting up.

The Refusal | Aibileen doesn't feel good on telling her stories to Skeeter. She feels that people will find out exactly who she is talking about. "I do this with you, I might as well burn my own house down." (Stockett 115). I wouldn't feel right talking to someone who could potentially get me in trouble.

Supernatural Aid | The Supernatural Aid has to be all the maids that Skeeter was able to speak with. If it wasn't for them, the book The Help would not be possible. After the incident of the maid going to jail, All the maids wanted to speak out. The way they were treated wasn't right, So they they believed people needed to hear about it.

Threshold | In the book where Skeeter decides to write this book is crossing the threshold. The way she was brought up, wasn't to worry herself with the way African-Americans felt or were treated. It wasn't her business. If her friends were to find out that she was writing a book like this, they probably wouldn't speak to her. She is really putting herself and all the maids she is talking to, in risk. ( Stockett 91)

Road of Trials | Skeeter is faced with criticism. If she was to share with the ladies what she was doing she would be criticized. No one would understand the reason she was doing this. That's why it was a secret between her and the maids.

Apotheosis | I feel Abileen in the beginning was so use to the system, and comfortable with the way things were. I believe after she met Skeeter and she began to talk about her life, she started to open up and she became an active character. She looked at herself a little more differently, than just 'The Help'. She went from a static to a dynamic character.
