BC: "Its the best book I've ever read."-Samuel K. "Even during class, I never want to put the book down!"-Chrissy S. "Sometimes, my mother yells at me for reading it over and over again."-Darrian Fielding | Thirteen Reasons Why. -Jay Asher | Until Hannah Kills herself. Or did she?

FC: Thirteen Reasons Why By: Jay Asher

In loving memory of Hannah Baker. You've always been there and you always will.

Entry #1- When I got home from school,a shoe box sized package was propped up against the front door. The front door has a tiny slot to shove mail through it, but anything thicker than a bar of soap gets left outside. Anyway, I opened the box and I put in the tapes into the tape recorder.

"These tapes shouldn't be here. Not with me. It has to be a mistake." -Clay(10.) I started to think to myself what I should do with them. I pulled the trash can over to me, debating. A few moments later, iIrealized I wanted to keep listening. After listening to some of the tapes, I took a walk.

Entry #2- Person number one-Justin Foley."Justin Foley. A senior. He was Hannah's first kiss."-Clay (12.) Justin took advantage of Hannah and she just didn't realize it. He always said crap about her behind her back. He tried getting her to do stuff with her but she didn't know what to say. Later that night, i took a nap for 4 hours.

Entry #3- Person number two- Jessica Davis. "For her, the rumors needed to be true." -Clay(66.) For her, all she wanted to do is believe the crap about Hannah. It was easier to think of her as bad Hannah than as the Hannah she wanted to know. Hannah ended up bursting at Jessica and said something like, thanks for helping me but Alex screwed things up, get over it. After listening to this tape, I ended up walking my dog Sparky.

Entry #4- Person number three- Tyler Down. "'A Peeping Tom.' she said."-Hannah(84.) That's exactly what Hannah liked to call him. She'd catch Tyler peeping into her windows when her family and parents were gone. Even though he was creepy, she thought it was sexy. But after a while, she got freaked out.

Entry #5- Person number four- Courtney. "Taped to the walls were sample shots that might appear in the yearbook. One particular photo was of Courtney and me. You guessed it. The one from the party, with my arm around her waist."-Hannah (94.) Everyone, including the Peeping Tom, thought they were having "fun" together after school. Everything about it was false. Hannah realized that no one knew the truth about her life, her thoughts about the world were shaken. I was so shaken up after listening to this one, I took a long drive to McDonualds.

Entry #6- Person number five- Marcus. "I don't know, without her as an audience egging me on, I doubt I would have agreed to go out with him that fast. But i was playing it up. Giving her something to brag about at cheer practice." -Clay(132.)

I wanted to yell at him but instead I said something around, how could you use her like that? She's perfect. Marcus was leading Hannah on and playing her. All he wanted her to do is brag about him and tell all her friends.

Entry #7- Person number six- Ryan Shaver. "But guess what? My poem? He stole it." -Hannah(185.) For weeks and weeks after the poetry group, Ryan and her would sit by the library and talk. The first week, they laughed about the poems the other's had written. Most of them were depressing. After the third week, they gave each other their notebooks, the biggest step.

Ryan read one of them and was inspired, but Hannah didn't tell him anything.

Entry #8- Person number number seven- Clay. Finally, it comes down to me. I could have helped her, I really could have. But did i know anything was up? No, I had no idea either. "In the hallways at school, you tried catching my eye, but I always looked away. Because that night, when I got home, I tore a page from my notebook and wrote down one name after another after another." -Hannah(217.)

Why did I leave her there? She needed me and I knew that, I honestly did. But once again, I let myself get scared. "Every morning I wake up saying, "I'm still alive - a miracle," so I keep pushing." - Jacques Cousteau. I wish Hannah said that everyday, but she didn't. Hannah told me next time, its okay to stop me. After dinner, I took a 4 1/2 hour walk to my old bus stop.

Entry #9- Person number eight- Jenny Kurtz. "In fact, you got away with much more than knocking down a sign, Jenny." -Hannah(246.) They were in the car, driving and they ended up running into a stop sign. Every one else in the car trying to take the car over but they couldn't control anything. They weren't obeying the stop sign and they just ran right through it. Jenny and Hannah were at a party together and Jenny ended up asking her if she wanted a ride. Overall, they were both acting loopy. "If you think nobody cares if you are alive, try missing a couple of car payments." - Earl Wilson.

I should have told Hannah that because Hannah maybe would have listened more if I told her people actually cared about her. Plus, she would have gotten a good laugh out of it. I probably listened to the tapes 7 times after listening to this one.

Entry #10- Person number nine- Mr. Potter. Mr. Potter was the guidance counselor but also the last person on Hannah's tapes. "About anything. School. Myself. The people in my school."-Hannah (271). Hannah didn't even know what to say. She just wanted someone to help her out. Hannah even had a hard time getting herself to the office that day. The reason he's on the tape is because he could have helped her, but instead he just asked questions.

"Survival is not so much about the body, but rather it is about the triumph of the human spirit." - Danita Vance. Sometimes, I wish that I knew what that meant. She needs to have more will-power and also physically strong. Later that night, after finally being done with the tapes, I cried myself to sleep because I actually realized Hannah was gone for good.
