30: Friday-Left airport late, around 2 am. Saturday - Arrived around 2 pm and checked into Sheraton Heathrow hotel. Took nap and headed into London area. Found out trip into London was well over 30min and subway was not cheap! 8 pounds ($12) each for a day pass. So we decided to scope out the Paddington area to look for a hotel. We had dinner at a pub and got kicked out because fire alarm went off. We then headed back to hotel without finding one in Paddington. Once we got back we checked out expedia online and found Gresham Hotel for about 60pounds ($100) a night and booked it.! Sunday - Checked in at Gresham Hotel...room 248. Strolled around the center of the city of London and went up in the London Eye then the film museum where Josh turned on handicap bath alarm by accident. Had a hot dog (not so good), and roasted nuts (really good). Then saw Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, walked though St James Park to Buckingham palace, walked through Green Park to Wellington arch, followed Hyde Park to marble arch, and continued back to Gresham hotel. No food served at pubs when we got back, so ate at Garfunkels.

31: Monday - Woke up early and took the Golden Tours hotel pick up bus to Victoria Station. There we found our bus and bound for Windsor Castle, Roman Bath and Stonehenge. Overall the day was uneventful, although the sites were pretty spectacular. A few nifty things were learned along the way. At the castle we learned the port holes in the castle wall is used for ranging arrows, etc.. The Romans were pretty smart and actually have ancient baths all over England when it was part of the empire. Stonehenge was likely but by an ancient tribe who built it for no other reason but "because they could". To tout their abilities, and to make sacrifices, to show other tribes how advanced and superior they were. The burial mounds were likely for tribe chiefs and elders, with the grandest ones being for the head tribe chief. Tuesday - Big Bus Tour, Harry Potter Walk, Back on the Big Bus, then took River Thames boat up and down river. Walked back to Trafalar square and watched a street performer take forever to get up on a bike and juggle. Met up for Ghost by Gaslight walk. We met a Canadian firefighter dude and wife on walk, after walk hang with Patrick and Terry whom we also met. We stopped by a local pub by the Trafalar square and had quite a few while trying some interesting local cuisine (kidney something or other). We then walked long way home on Oxford St, which later came known to us, as pickpocket haven. However, we were lucky and made it home with all of our pounds, probably some extra given the amount of food and beer we consumed.

32: Wednesday - Another early morning with Golden tours and a trip to Leeds Castle, Dover and Canterbury day trip. We got to the station a little late due to other idiots scheduled for the hotel shuttle being late. So we ended up the last people to the tour bus, and didn't even get to sit together since no one offered to sit with a different stranger, this was a major let down. Josh sat next to a Russian gal who had no concept of time. Leeds Castle was pretty incredible, a fortress with a huge moat making it almost look like an island. We stopped at the cliffs of Dover for all of 5 minutes for pictures and continued on our way. This was one of the original proposal spots Josh considered before the whole work debacle happened, too bad because the cliffs were amazing. Canterbury was a nice little town with a gorgeous Cathedral. We then took the River Thames boat from Greenwich, walked back from embankment St port. Thursday - London Pass- West Minister Abby, St. Paul's Cathedral, London Tower, Jack Ripper Walk, Expensive Moroccan Restaurant. Charged us $3 each just to sit in their restaurant! Josh got lost and walked 30 minutes the wrong way when hotel was 5 min away... UGH! Friday-Went to Paris for the day. Smelled like piss. Had crepes and cappuccino at a little cafe then went to the Eiffel Tower. Climbed several hundred steps and enjoyed the gorgeous views. Took a tour of the river Seine. Went to a little restaurant for dinner and had a bottle of wine and 3 course dinner. Headed back to the train for the ride back to London and arrived at hotel around 10 pm. Took a walk through Hyde Park. Was not lit at all and I got scared so we headed back toward the street and headed back to the hotel. Went to bed.

33: Saturday-Got up and realized how bad hurricane Irene was and decided to try to catch a flight out a day early. Josh packed and I jumped in the shower and thought about the unknown of the day ahead. Left the bathroom in a towel and almost ran into Josh who was on his knee holding a single yellow flower. Completely unexpected, he asked me to marry him (with toast on his face)...and how could I resist? Took London underground for an hour to Heathrow to find out that the last flight out to NY was Friday night. We rebooked to Boston for Sunday Morning and headed back and rechecked in to the Greshen hotel. Decided to do a pub crawl and went to several bars and ended up at Essex arms where we met English men Dennis and Carl. Don't remember going back to the hotel and passed out. So sorry josh. Sunday-Super hung over and ruined Josh's birthday... Sorry Babif :( Went to an Italian restaurant for his birthday dinner. Still felt yucky. Monday-Yup, still felt yucky in the morning. Had a late start. We went to a tavern for breakfast. Later in the day we decided to check out the Nottinghill Carnival which was very cool. Remnants of the riots a week or two prior were everywhere, but it didnt ruin the party. Josh used a porta-pisser there too, basically outdoor portable urinals. Ended up a great day! Tuesday- Took is easy and went to the science and natural history museums and later had overpriced Japanese for lunch. Wednesday- Got up and went to the airport to head home.
