BC: Despite Martin Luther King's death his life impacted all African American's by giving them hope and opportunity that previously was not given to them. His legacy lives on.

1: Martin Luther King Jr. was an important activist for the African-American civil rights movement. He was born on January 15th 1929 in a United states where blacks and whites were considered equal but often separated.
2: Montgomery Bus Boycott
3: Dr. Martin Luther King led the Montgomery Bus Boycott. It was a boycott of the bus company due to the treatment of African American Rosa Parks on a bus. She was forced to sit in the back of the bus. Many African Americans boycotted using the bus company and this really hurt their profit significantly.

6: Martin Luther King's I have a dream speech is one of the most famous speeches of all time. He performed it in Washington D.C.
7: In the speech he talks about living in a world one day where it is safe and fair for his children to be in. He wants big strides for the black community towards equality. His speech helped make some big strides.
8: Martin Luther King was assassinated April 4th 1968 at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee while he was standing on the balcony of the motel
9: He was assassinated by a man named James Earl Ray who was caught and sent to prison. He was opposed to equality for blacks.
