FC: Meeting of the Minds ~Carrie Jones~
In 2008, I married my high school sweetheart, Michael. I am from the country, born and bred. He is a city boy.
It was a beautiful wedding. But Mike did ask why it took three priests to marry us...... | My Bouquet | Father Thom (My dad), Father Jay, Rev. Calvin (my grandfather)
My father thought Mike's joke about seeing "two white dresses coming down the aisle" was hilarious.
Mike came up with the idea that we would take turns picking out vacation destinations. If it was your year, then you decided everything about the vacation. | Poor Mike had no idea what he was getting himself into.
In my defense, he should have seen it coming. I love animals and flowers and the outdoors. Horses are my especial favorites. Mike, on the other hand, had only ever been around his own dog, Hershey.
Our first vacation as a married couple, I took Mike camping in Tyler. I thought we'd start with something simple and close to home, since Mike had never been camping before in his life.
After a disastrous attempt at teaching Mike to fish and a run-in with a skunk, I took Mike to the Caldwell Zoo....animals behind glass were infinitely preferable to Mike.
He really did well, even consented to try and feed the birds, though he dropped the stick and ran when it moved closer to him.
Mike asked me to pose by my sign for a picture.
Just because a girl is five-foot-ten-and-three-quarters-inches tall doesn't mean she deserves giraffe jokes.
He wasn't thrilled with the reptile house....
...or the spiders, but I promised him I wouldn't mention that.
Well, he lived to tell the tale. But the only animals he can stand are ours; Kate, Hershey, and my cat, Beth.
And they lived... Happily Ever After
