FC: Justin & Kristen

 Justin & Kristen

We have been married for over 11 years. Justin: I knew I wanted to marry Kristen the 1st time I saw her walk across the room at church. Kristen: The first time I saw Justin, he was playing his saxophone at church. I thought he was so cute. After 8 months, we went on our 1st date. 2 years later we got married. Both: I married my best friend.

Justin: I married my best friend. She is beautiful (inside & out), kind, compassionate, wise and so much fun to be with. She loves God and she inspires me everyday to be a better man and I love her!! | Kristen: I love my husband. He is a Godly man of character who I trust & respect. I also think he is ridiculously handsome. He is full of life, makes me laugh everyday, and is always willing to go on a new adventure.

Baptizing people at the beach | ABOUT JUSTIN Justin: I was blessed to grow up with 2 parents who love God. My Dad has been a worship pastor for as long as I can remember. I grew up hearing him pray and worship daily. My Mom has been a part of music ministry as well, from which came my passion for music. I have been serving in God's house since I was 5, when I accepted Christ. Today I am a youth pastor. I love getting to be part of the lives of our teens, and help them discover God's purpose for their life. My mission in life is to help people connect with God. I love serving by leading worship, teaching & being an example as a Godly man, husband, pastor and friend. | Kristen & I on top of the Arc de Triumphe in Paris

ABOUT KRISTEN I grew up in a Hispanic community and home. My dad's side of the family is Mexican, and my mom is white. I was blessed to have known my great nana (grandmother), who taught me how to make tortillas, tamales and love my heritage. My parents raised my sister and me Catholic, until my dad accepted Jesus when I was 12. We then began attending a Christian Church. I fully dedicated my life to God when I was 17, and began interning in my youth group. I have been in ministry for over 15 years now. I love God and the local church. Today I serve as the Communications Director at our church overseeing all video, print and web production. My dad instilled in my sister and me a great love for books and learning. I studied art history when I was younger, and love to visit art museums. I also like decorating, cooking and making things. Last year, I loved being a mom - dirty diapers, late night feedings and all. I believe our family is called to adopt, and look forward to the journey God is leading us on. | At the beach with Justin | Playing with my foster son Phillip | I heart my sister.

OUR 1ST SON In 2009, we became fost-adopt parents in the hope of helping children find a forever family and safe place to call home. In January 2010, we received a phone call for a 3 day old baby boy who had been left at the hospital. We opened our hearts and home to our 1st son, Phillip. Phillip spent the 1st year of his life with our family. We were blessed to experience his 1st words, "Hi & Da-da", hear him belly laugh for the 1st time, and help him take his 1st steps. Our families embraced Phillip as their own, and loved him dearly - especially Kristen's parents. It was the most rewarding year of our lives. We wouldn't trade our time with him for the world. Phillip is Native American, and his case was very complicated. Because we were not Native American, we were not allowed to adopt Phillip. We had to give him back to his tribe the day before his 1st birthday. We will always consider Phillip our son. We pray for him daily, and trust God, who is good and faithful, to watch over, care for and protect him. We believe God's plans for him and our family are good. | Phillip's 1st Trip to the Beach | Cuddling with Mom

Looking Up at Dad | Phillip with Nana (Kristen's Mom) | Phillip with Tata (Kristen's Dad) | Phillip with Aunt Colie (Kristen's Sister)

Max LOVES to eat broccoli & green beans. | MEET MAXIMUS | Maximus is our Shih Tzu. He loves people, his stuffed gorillas, veggies & playing with kids. He is a part of our family. | MAX LOVES HIS AFTERNOON NAP

Home is where there's someone to love, and someone to love us. | Max loves children. He lets them pet him, shares his toys and usually sleeps by their door when they are taking a nap.

WHAT WE LOVE TO DO FOOD, TRAVEL, MUSIC & THE OCCASSIONAL GAME OF BACKGAMMON... We love to travel to new places and try new foods from all over the world. We enjoy going to concerts together, and playing backgammon. Music is an important part of our lives. No matter where we are, Justin is usually singing or has a playlist for the ride. | The top pic is from us playing backgammon at a Morrocan cafe in Paris. Justin: Music is powerful. I love leading worship, and hearing great music. One of my favorite date nights with Kristen was seeing U2 and Coldplay in concert. | Kristen: I love how much my husband loves music. Every vacation we go on seems to have it's own unique soundtrack. Some of my favorite songs are the ones he has written for our family. | Owl City Concert | Norah Jones Concert | Backgammon in Paris | In London with friends

AFRICA: In this pic, we are standing in front of the Nile River in Africa. We had the opportunity to spend time in Uganda serving at Watoto, and enjoying the beautiful country. | HAWAII: Here we are at Hanauma Bay, after an afternoon snorkeling with friends. The sunsets were gorgeous, the beaches beautiful, but we had a blast exploring Chinatown in Waikiki. | FRANCE: Our favorite vacation was a road trip in Northern France, exploring villages, old castles, & seeing Monet's gardens. This pic was from our 1st trip to Paris near the Eiffel Tower which lights up every night.

OUR FRIENDS God has blessed us with amazing friends that we get to share life with. | Friends from church who have loved, prayed for & supported us. | Kristen's best friend & her friend's parents, who we have spent many holidays with. | Good Bible Study friends who are expecting their 1st baby.

Some of our closest friends who we celebrate the holidays with. | Our good friends and their new baby girl. | Friends, mentors & leaders. We love this family! | Youth leaders & long time friends. | Our friends from Bible Study and church who we laugh & have dinner with.

OUR HOME We recently purchased our 1st home. It is a 2 story, 3 bedroom, 3 bath house with a family room upstairs, and a small backyard. We live in a gated community with a pool, and in the late afternoon, children play and ride their bikes.

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD We live in a safe, peaceful & quiet neighborhood filled with trees, friendly families, flowers and kind neighbors. We live near a state university with a diverse student population. There are parks nearby, museums within 30 minutes of where we live and the ocean is only 45 minutes away.

WELCOME TO OUR HOME When you open the door of our home, you are greeted by some of our favorite things. We love colorful artwork and vintage decor. A large picture of Paris hangs above our sofa and in the corner is a vintage typewriter - a much loved gift from Kristen's dad.

DINING ROOM & KITCHEN Our dining room is decorated with prints from local artists, our favorite books, much worn Bibles, textbooks from Bible college, cookbooks, and pictures of loved ones.

THE NURSERY The nursery is upstairs and painted in the blue from 'The Cat in the Hat' by Dr. Suess. The nursery is bright and colorful, filled with plush toys and books. Part of Joshua 1, is on the walls. If it's a girl we will add pink & purple to the room, and if it is a boy, we will add more green. We would be honored to see a child grow up in this room.

UPSTAIRS The nursery is located upstairs along with the family room, master bedroom, guest room, and a bathroom.

THANK YOU Thank you for considering our family to be a part of yours. We know that this is not easy. Our prayer is that God leads you, gives you strength, courage and peace as you choose a forever family for your child. Sincerely, Justin & Kristen
