FC: Comparative Government | SUMMER 2014 | By David Pitts

1: The US Constitution was adopted in 1787. There is a limited government and it has a Federal system. | The President is in charge of the Executive Branch, which also includes many department and agencies.

2: The Legislative Branch is the lawmaking branch of the government, made up by the Senate and the House of Representatives.

3: The Judicial Branch is made up of the Supreme Court, Lower Courts, Special Courts, and court support organizations.

4: Republicans | Democrats | Political Parties

5: The United States' largest import is oil while its largest export is machinery. | The United States is a mixed economy.

6: Mexico

7: Constitution adopted in 1824

8: Mexico has a Federal system that is also a limited government.

9: The President is directly elected by registered voters. | The Legislative Branch of the Mexican government consists of a bicameral Congress. | Federal Courts include the Supreme Court, 21 magistrates, 32 circuit tribunals, and 98 district courts, with one judge each.

10: The economy of Mexico is mixed

11: The main import is oil while the main export is electronic equipment.

12: United Kingdom

13: The Constitution has been around since 1688. | The United Kingdom is a Unitary system. | The Executive power is exercised by Her Majesty's Government. The Legislative power is split into two chambers. The highest national court is the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. | Labour Party, Conservative Party, and Liberal Democratic Party are the three main parties. | The United Kingdom has a market economy. | The top import of the United Kingdom is electronic equipment while the largest export is transport equipment.

16: The current constitution of China was written in 1982. The government has a federal system. | The Executive Branch is mostly made up of the state council. The Legislative Branch is mostly made up of the National People's Congress. The Judicial Branch is mostly made up of the Supreme People's Court. | The Communist Party of China is the largest political party there.

17: The economy of China is mixed. The largest export from China is electronic equipment, and the largest export is also electronic equipment.

19: The Constitution of New Zealand was adopted in 1986. | New Zealand is a Unitary System. | The Executive and Legislative Branch are both connected in New Zealand. The main courts of New Zealand are consisted of courts with general jurisdiction. | The Green party, Labour Party, Mana Party and National Party are the four main political parties of New Zealand. | New Zealand has a market economy. The main import of New Zealand is petroleum while the most exported items are milk powder, butter, and cheese.
