1: There are over 200 species of monkeys including chimpanzees.
2: Monkeys are categorized into two groups. Old world monkeys and new world monkeys. Old world monkeys belong to the superfamily Cercopithecoidea.
3: Monkeys are very vocal animals.
4: Apes and monkeys are different. Apes have no tails as well as they are capable of using language and creating tools.
5: Since gorillas and humans are so closely related, humans can transmit diseases to gorillas and gorillas can transmit them to humans.
6: New world monkeys live in South America.
7: Monkeys are omnivores. They eat fruit and insects but some larger monkeys like the gorilla will eat meat.
8: Monkeys are good parents because they take care of their young.
9: Monkeys use urine to clean their hands and feet. They also do this because it gives them an extra grip to climb trees.
10: Groups of monkeys are known as a tribe, troop, or mission.
11: Some monkeys live on the ground but some live in trees.
12: Capuchin monkeys are said to be the smartest monkey.
