FC: Utopian Society
It's a problem free community; New Portland
Declaration of independence Dear World, I am breaking up with you because there are many things wrong with society and the following has to change. There is racism, prejudice, and social classes in this world. These things need to change because racism and prejudice cripple society. It makes people have premature judgment, and have a biased attitude towards a person or group of people. It affects a person’s emotions and behavior, leading to discrimination. Social classes often make citizens feel unequal and poor, while other citizens feel higher in power than others.
There are also wars, pollution, diseases, and monopolies in this society. Wars take away innocent people’s lives, rather than resolving problems. It doesn’t do anything but make things worse. Pollution limits natural resources and is bad for the environment. Diseases make people die or induce extreme pain and sorrow. Lastly, Monopolies are a problem in society. Big companies that buy other companies and make the most money and spread throughout the world is bad. This limits local businesses from growing financially.
Our fundamental goals & values are people are equal with no prejudice and social classes, but still retain their individual identities. We are trying to achieve a peaceful place that is ecologically and economically friendly. We hope that getting rid of bad things in society will get rid of crime because no one will have a need to do so. The philosophical grounds our society is based on the original idea of Communism but runs a democratic government.
Government New Portland’s political theory will be based on capitalism so there isn’t any poverty in our utopia and you make as much as you work. Our form of government will take on democracy. This choice will best serve New Portland’s vision because it’s for the people and by the people. our power structure is the same as the U.S democracy. The President leads New Portland and there are 4 branches; legislative, executive, judicial, and assemblitive The assimilative branch consists of 15 members of the general public. They have the power to give advice and influence the other branches and to veto laws. To have a leader chosen, 2 candidates are voted in the legislative, judicial, and the assemblitive branches run campaigns.
Then, the public votes for who they want to run from each of the two candidates from each branch. Then they vote on who to lead New Portland. For the decision-making process, laws are formed by the legislative, laws are changed by assemblitive, laws are carried out by executive, and laws are abolished by the judicial. To make New Portland’s government avoid corruption there are the same serving years and checks and balances in the U.S government. The assemblitive council members serve one year terms.
Rules There are eleven rules New Portland’s inhabitants must adhere. One, Any sense of prejudice and unfair judgment is punishable by fine. This rule is placed to equalize citizens and to get rid of racism and prejudice. Rule number two,Employers cannot pay employees less than 15 dollars an hour, this rule minimizes poverty. Rule number three, No destruction, alteration, or defacing any property, this is to reduce crimes. Rule number four, any vehicles must be powered by alternative energy. This is put in place to reduce emissions and pollutants. Rules five and six, No citizen shall harm another citizen; no one shall own a lethal weapon. These two rules reduce crime.
Rule seven, Anything that is powered must be powered by and alternative energy that does not harm the environment. This gets rid of pollution and is eco-friendly. Rule eight, local businesses can only operate in their towns, this gets rid of monopolies. Rule nine, children between 8-18 must go to school at least 25 hours a week, this increases education. Rule ten Everyone must wear their own unique style, this makes people hipsters and give them individuality. Rule eleven, no one can say “swag” or “yolo”, this is punishable by being mainstream.
