S: Grady and Denise's 2012 Alaskan Cruise

BC: This was the best trip ever!

FC: Grady and Denise's Alaskan Cruise June 2012

Grady worked ridiculously hard to plan this two week, multi tiered trip of a lifetime and it was fantastic! * The trip included a night in Cleavland, Ohio at the Ritz-Carlton while we checked out the new casino. * Next we overnighted in Seattle, Washington where we had dinner at a seafood restaurant on Peugeot Sound. * This was followed by a seven day Alaskan Cruise and * Four days in Lake Tahoe Nevada! WOW!!! This book represents our memories of this trip of a lifetime so that we will never forget.

We started out at the Ritz-Carlton in Cleavland. This beautiful hotel is attached to the mall which is connected to the new Horseshoe Casino that has only been open a week. We had dinner in their gourmet buffet where the food was to die for. We engaged in our favorite past-time and turned in early to prepare for the trip to Seattle in the morning. Cleavland was neat, clean and safe. We were pleasantly surprised by the experience because we didn't know what to expect. We are going back to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Dinner in Seattle, Washington. Seafood at Peugeot Sound. | It is alway great to see a new place. I read 50 Shades of Gray during this trip. It was set in Seattle. I felt connected. :-) Kinda!

 The trip to the ship.

NCL Pearl out of Seattle, Washington

 Lets get on Board!

"I'm so excited, I'm about to loose control and I think I like It!"

 The Seattle Skyline

 Away we go!

Grady enjoyed taking as many pictures as possible.

A beautiful view of the Space Needle. | .....and the mountains!

We are on the move. | Oooh... Where are the life vests? Y'all know I can't swim! :-)

Our cabin was just big enough...and we had a window that served us well. We didn't miss much. We had great views. | Is that a slot machine? Don't worry about me. I'm okay! :-)

Beautiful | Breath- taking | Awesome | Views

 Day 2 At Sea

THIS IS GOD'S COUNTRY! PEACEFUL, BEAUTIFUL, SERENE, RELAXING, This is about as far away from it all as you can get. No cell phone connection! How great is that?

 Day 3 Juneau, Alaska

Sushi on the ship. and First stop Juneau, Alaska

In Juneau we walked most of the area on the map, but we did not go to the governors mansion. We had Seattle's Best coffee at the coffee shop and mailed post cards at the post office. We saw the library on top of the parking garage.

This is the Salmon Shop. | They have fresh and smoked fish ready to ship. | The main tourist area | We were safe | Street traffic | An eatery | The Tram entrance | Mt Roberts

Shopping area in Juneau, Alaska and Mt. Roberts Tramway up the mountain.

We went up and down the tram and enjoyed the view. | A picture of the Tram Car | This Bald Eagle was said to have been injured and was being held for it's protection! I wonder if the eagle agrees with that.

 More pictures of Juneau.

 The view from the top

It is so beautiful we just had to take more pictures.

 Day 4 Skagway, Alaska

The ship stopped in Scagway, Alaska...but it was cold. So we stayed on the ship and missed the train ride through the glaciers. I was okay with that :-)

I understand that the tourist who took the train ride actually saw bears! So I thought this was a great place to put in this picture, even though we didn't really see bears, it's Grady and me in front of a blue screen. | If you don't tell anyone I won't! :-)

 Day 5 Glacier Bay, Alaska

The glaciers up close. You can not look at this and deny the issue of global warming. I expected to see mountains fully encased in ice!

 More snow capped mountain glaciers.

We ate at the Spanish restaurant and the food was great! | Dinner on the ship. Cheers to us!

 Day 6 Ketchikan, Alaska

We took a "RIDE THE DUCK" tour. Our guide was very informative and funny. This was most enjoyable. We also managed to complete the whole cruise without getting rained on. That was also great!

Ketchikan claims to be the salmon capital of the world. Bald Eagles feed on cast offs from the salmon processing plant.

Grady and I had a wonderful lunch of freshly caught salmon in the salmon capital. We also did a little shopping.

 Day 7 Victoria, B.C.

In Victoria British Columbia we toured Craigdarroch Castle. I must admit my disappointment. I always think of castles as having knights and old English things. Silly me. :-) This 20,000 square foot mansion was built in the 1800's by Robert Dunsmuir, the wealthiest man in British Columbia. It is called a castle simply because it is big! Someone is making lots of money on the tour. If you visit Victoria....choose another tour. The downtown area is beautiful with lots of shopping. There are beautiful eateries and lots of classic architecture. It is a very beautiful place! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it because the camera actually gave up after the dreaded castle visit. ;-)

Next stop, Lake Tahoe | Pictures taken of puffy clouds, at 30,000 feet, from inside the window of the plane.

Grady and I stayed at the Harrah's property in Lake Tahoe. We had a phenomenal suite that came with a butler!:-) | The one bedroom suite had a full living room, dining room and bar, with a living area in the bedroom and his and her full bathrooms.

There was a baby grand piano. | There was a television in each living area. | There was also a half bathroom near the front door. The view was fantastic!!!!! I could really get used to this! :-)

 Harrah's Lake Tahoe

The Butler came in every night to leave a night cap and to turn down the bed. He could also draw our bath, unpack and iron our clothes and perform other services upon request. One night, I ordered a sandwich from room service. Imagine my surprise when I was told I needed to contact my BUTLER for that! :-) The tip cost me more than the sandwich. but it was WELL WORTH IT!!!! :-)

We took a cruise on Lake Tahoe on Harrah's private yacht.

I was surprised at how much the mountains in Lake Tahoe looked like the mountains in Alaska. We were really only able to tell the difference based on the dates the pictures were taken, We drove through Carson City. Nevada and saw where the old Bonanza TV show was filmed.

On the Yacht! Movie stars, professional sports players and famous performers have toured on this yacht. Today we are in the Big League. | This is the life that we dreamed of. How wonderful....

PEACEFUL | AWE INSPIRING | Beautiful Lake Tahoe

Grady and I had a great vacation. | We are heading home to prepare for the next one!
