28: It's Spring today Dad, and as we come to say good bye to a husband, a father and a grandfather, our spring showers are tears..... We pray Dad that you are finally at peace knowing that the past ten weeks have been long, exhausting, and oh so frustrating for you more than us. The weeks that we gathered around your bed, we laughed, we cried and we hoped. Hoped, that time and healing would bring you back to us. Instead, it is God's wish for you to leave us here and to journey home to your mother and father. You had two great passions in life Dad. your family, and your love of farming. And, as we sit here today in springs' first blooms, it is so hard to think that for the first time you will not be here to cultivate and plant your soil. This year Don and David will sow alone without your help. The barn is empty, no longer filled with cows and heifers, bought for that great deal at Listowel or Kitchener. Even Snarky the cat and Toby, that "almost human dog" of yours, feel your loss.
29: Dad, your presence at the head of our family made a positive difference in all our lives. Mom will miss you always. But in the days ahead, she will keep close to her heart 40 years of private moments, hard times, happy memories and your love. Rest assured, we will be there for her.
30: As a father, you were a man of few words. You usually didn't need them. You had that "look". You were not a father to verbalize your feelings to us, but you were not the gruff person others may have thought you were. Instead you were a father that instilled in us, a love of work and family, quietly supporting us in all our endeavors and achievements. Finally, as a grandfather, you were the best! You loved each child leaving them with their own private smiles. Your harem of many granddaughters, Sandy, Cara, Laura, Sheena, Kayla, Kourtney, and Emily will miss giving you a new "do". Your hired man Connor, will miss the hero that taught the city kid to farm. Finally, as your flame flickered and dimmed, new light emerged in your 2nd grandson Reid. He never had the chance to see his grandpa in life, but memories of you will live in Shirley and Thom.
31: Dad, you leave behind a void in all our lives. But, it is a void that will be filled with cherished memories of our best moments with you. You left us with the best part of you....your love. Please take the best part of us with you. May God be with you till we meet again...XOXO
