BC: GO TEAM!
FC: My Scrapbook of Sports! | GO TEAM! | It’s Not just A Game | By: Madison Elwood
Play Ball! | It was on my mind all day, everyday. When I wasn't on the field thats the only thing I wanted to be doing. Baseball was not just an activity to do on Saturday afternoons. It was a life, it was my life. Baseball is my dream.
 GO TEAM | BASEBALL
Hit one out of the park!
Once freshman year was over I knew I had to say goodbye to it all. On July 27th we had arrived in Virginia in our new home, where we knew nobody. I just wanted baseball season to start so I could at least meet one friend. Well baseball didn’t come as fast as it did in middle school. Everyday I was dragging along a hopeless day of making a friend. But at try-outs I played better than I did in all of my games put together. I felt like a whole new world was ready to explore. “Welcome to Virginia” I read the sign in big white cursive letters. I felt like my life was over.
The next day at tryouts I got put on the varsity field, as a sophomore! I was the only one!! I played on varsity all throughout sophomore year I felt like star. Until the beginning of junior year in off season I broke my arm on the mound. It was the first game of fall ball, I was pitching. Once my arm tore right out of the socket I was rushed to the emergency room. I could say goodbye to that D1 full ride to the college of my dreams.
Once I got my cast off, I never worked so hard in my life. I was doing crazy exercises to fix my arm and be back to normal. But no matter how much I did I always felt like I would never be the same pitcher I was. My dreams since I was 2 years old was hanging on by a thread. I had to lower my standards because of my injury. Instead of going to a D1 school right out of high school I will attend a junior collegiate school and be the best I could be there. That was the smartest descion I had made in my life
GO TEAM! | We did it!
 GOAL! | World Series
Baseball Rules! | At my junior college that year my team played all the way up to the JUCO World Series in Tyler, Texas. So many scouts were at the world series, I couldn’t believe the amount of calls I was getting to play for D1 schools and even major league teams. I realized all my heard work did finally pay off. The choice was mine.
I guess everything does happen for a reason. If I hadn't broken my arm I would not have been on the community college team that took me straight to the professional team that I had been the most successful player I could be. I was starting first basemen for the New York Yankees. Many people doubted me throughout my career but I never doubted myself. Without my parents pushing me to be the best I could be I would never be the player I am today. I am thankful for every “mishap” that had ever happened to me.

 GOOD JOB!
