FC: Spring Break 2011 In Search of California Missions and Other Fun Sights
San Fernando Mission was our first stop. It was the 17th mission built. Below is a robe that the late Pope John Paul II wore during his visit to the mission in September of 1987. | The fourth mission church is an exact replica of the earlier edifice erected between 1804 and 1806. The original furnishings are used today.
Santa Ines Mission was the 19th mission built. It's located in Solvang. We went into downtown Solvang after leaving the mission. There we enjoyed shopping at the cheese shop.
San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, the fifth mission.
Mission San Miguel, the 16th mission. One of our favorites. It is one of the most rustic missions standing. The painting inside of the sanctuary is the original art work done by the Indians and are the best preserved in California.
