S: SUMMER 2011
FC: 2011 | LA Vacation
The Farmer's Daughter | We checked in at The Farmer's Daughter Hotel, right across from the Farmers' Market and CBS Studios. It was a perfect location with food stands and souvenir shops. | A lime tree!
We drove down Santa Monica Boulevard to get to Venice Beach. It was a drive that should have taken half an hour in regular traffic, but took us three times that long! | What happened to Steph?
Star Search | The Kodak Theatre where the Academy Awards are held. | We waited for the Premiere of the movie Horrible Bosses, and waited, and waited. After two hours in the sun on Hollywood Boulevard, we gave up. We had hoped to catch a glimpse of Jennifer Aniston and others.
The Amazing Race!!! | We competed against two other teams in a scavenger hunt around LA. The kids named us Team Q, which sounded like Team Two and confused our coordinator. After five hours we gave up and returned to a bowling alley for refreshments. We still got bronze medals for coming in third!
The Walt Disney Concert Hall really confused us. We called for a clue and felt really stupid aftertwards. | This spot really put us behind.
Warner Brothers Tour | The family in front of Warner Brothers Studios. | Dad in front of a Casablanca poster. The piano is a replica of the one from the movie. | Studio 16, the largest one on the property.
This is a Nimbus 2000 broomstick used in the game of Quiddich. (Left) | Below are the tea cups from one of the Harry Potter movies. | Below are costumes the Harry Potter cast used.
Movie Sets | This (left) is a movie set of a typical suburban neighbor-hood. | This is a storefront used as a cafe for the movie Casablanca. | This lagoon is used as a lake or swamp for various movies and TV shows. | This courthouse was used in the original Oceans Eleven movie with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. | These are real tree branches used when something needs to be blocked out of a scene, and when they die they spraypaint them green.
IN THE SUN | This is the menu board from the Friends set. | All of the props can be rented for movies or parties. | When the light is on, something is recording.
The Car Collection | The Car Collection | The car from Get Smart. | Ron and Harry flew this car to Hogwarts once. | This car was used in the Austin Powers movie.
Clint Eastwood's own car from Grand Torino. | The Genral Lee from Duke's of Hazzard. | The Dark Knight car that only goes 40 MPG. | Jinkes, it's The Mystery Machine! | This car (left) was from Batman, and it takes a special drive to operate it.
People were posing to have their pictures taken with this Bugatti sports car parked along the street. | Window Shopping | Daniel stayed back at the hotel while the rest of us hit Rodeo Drive.
This Prada suitcase was big enough to hold two adults. The normal-sized one is on the left. | Miriam took this picture
Santa Barbara 2011 | Dodger's Stadium | There are no elevators or stairs because each section of seats is accessible from parking lots that surround the stadium. This is because the stadium is built into a hillside.
SUMMER OF LOVE | A wall with the names of all the Dodger players in history. | Note: Miriam is using her index finger to point to the sign.
One of our favorite parts of the zoo was the pandas. They were adorable! | I couldn't pose with the front of the statue because somone was already there. | This is a life-sized polarbear.
The sleeping koala were so cute.
A view of the Hollywood sign and the mountians from the peak of our mountain. | Mom stayed back to take this picture of my dad, Daniel and me as we continued walking. | A mansion in the Hollywood Hills.
Hiking in the Hollywood Hills | Daniel and I at the peak of the mountain, exausted.

Daniel got a footlong hotdog at the baseball game. Only he could find one that big. | Fireworks at the stadium on the fourth.
We always knew Daniel ate like an animal. It's just a little scary he's taller than a bear though. | Dire wolf skulls. | A pool of tar right in downtown Los Angeles. | You can watch archaologists clean fossilized bones in this lab (right). | Ma | Mastadon and camel skeletons.
These were actually bones people found while digging in bubbling pits of tar. Sounds fun... | La Brea Tar Pits | A dire wolf. | Giant sloth. | Saber-tooth cat attacking a giant sloth.
