1: We got up early and headed to the airport for our 7:30 AM flight. After a layover in Phoenix, we boarded a second plane that took us to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. After the long travel day, we arrived at 5PM. | the Sheedlo family | May 29- July 3
2: Jorge, from Amigo Rental Cars, picked us up at the airport and drove us to La Cruz de Huanaxtle, 20 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. | We rented a condo right on the ocean in La Cruz; this was an answered prayer to find a nice place in our price range. And it had its own pool and dog, too! | La Cruz | the marina
3: Our condo was a home away from home. We enjoyed using the pool each day and being outside of town a bit.
4: Our phones weren't working at first, so we had a tough time getting ahold of our friends at the Salvation Army. After a timeshare presentation Monday morning and relaxing at the pool in the afternoon, we finally reached our friends by telephone and went to see Capitana Lulu, Eli, Erick, Christian, Mimi, and Natalia in the evening. They gave us a tour of the Ejercito de Salvacion (Salvation Army) community center in the colonia of Mojaneres along with their home which is up on the second floor. It was really fun to see them again! | Salvation Army | week one highlights
5: We started "working" on Tuesday of our first week and were there from 11AM-3PM each weekday. On weekends, we'd come for fun activities and church, too.
6: The Cuale River Walk. | other happenings... | explored Puerto Vallarta walked to marina in LaCruz met "our dog" Roo-Roo (Canelo) to Playa Anclote and Salyulita met our condo security friends | Lulu's birthday was June 1st, so we brought a Tres Leches cake to help celebrate. It is tradition to smash the person's face into the cake when they bend over to blow out the candles.
7: The beach in Mismalyoya, south of Puerto Vallarta. | El Eden | They filmed the movie "The Predator" in the jungle in El Eden.

9: other happenings... Elizabeth got a haircut Mascarita's puppies were born to Playa Anclote and Salyulita went to Worship In Paradise church real Mexican food | We enjoyed home cooked mole, empanadas, fried tacos, tortas, and chicken soup at our Sunday night meal times.
10: We did crafts with the 45 children every day. There were two groups we worked with: one at 11:00, and the other at 1:30. We also did puzzles, read books, had English class, and played games together. Steve often did handyman projects like fixing toilets, drains, doors, and faucets. | week three highlights
11: We were so proud of the Sheedlo kids; they were so helpful!
12: Sunday night meals at the SA swimming with the dolphins helped at feeding center learning how to make lime pie to the market in Bucerias Steve began working some of us saw Kung Fu Panda 2 | other happenings...

19: We enjoy trying new foods and beverages in Mexico. (Most of the time and especially at the bakeries!)

22: Mazatlan | preparing/distributing lunch for 300 | week five highlights | We stayed on Olas Altas beach at La Siesta Hotel. The Lord blessed us with a free hotel stay! This is the view from our balcony. | visiting with Daniel and his family swimming, relaxing, and sleeping in walking the malecon hanging out with Barb and AJ (Utah) spending time with friends going to favorite stores and bakery climbing El Faro with friends seeing Christian and Erick again renting a car safety
