The Communist Manifesto | Sara Sanderlin
I was written by Karl Marx and in 1848, in London, England. They were radical workers of the Communist League, and commissioned by fellow members to write me.
Marx was most influenced byG.W.F. Hegel, Hegel believed that history as a process becomes conscious as a spirit. Marx furthered it by saying that man becomes more conscious of his spirit, and the material world causes him to feel increasingly alienated from himself and to escape requires a revolution.
I can be understood as one attempt to influence history by spreading information about the communist movement. I reflect an attempt to explain the goals of communism, as well as the theory underlying the movement.
I argue that class struggles are the motivating force behind all historical developments. I also argue that the development is inevitable, and capitalism is unstable. Class relationships are defined by means of production, and eventually relationships cease to be compatible with developing forces of production. In society there are class conflicts between the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat. The Proletariat will lead a revolution because it is not compatible with forces of capitalism.
Of all documents of modern socialism, I am the most widely read and is the most influential.
I am the systematic statement of the philosophy that has come to be known as Marxism.
