1: James Oglethorpe | James Oglethorpe was elected to Parliament the national legislature of Great Britain. He learned many problems facing his country. Those who couldn't par their debts were often thrown into prison. As a result, jails overcrowded. With help from John Percival, Oglethorpe received a new colony in America to release debtors and other poor citizens.
2: King George II signs the charter establishing the colony of Georgia 1732
3: George II signed the charter creating the colony of Georgia in 1732. Georgia became the first new British colony in North America.
4: GEORGIA AS A TRUSTEE COLONY
5: Trustee Georgia is the name of the period covering the first twenty years of Georgia history, from 1732–1752, because during that time the Province of Georgia was governed by a Board of Trustees. Trustees are a body of elected or appointed members who direct the activities of a Province.

8: Meeting with Tomochichi | METTING WITH TOMOCHICHI | Tomochichi was the head chief of the Yamacraw town. When the colonists arrived Tomochichi was there to great them. He traveled with Oglethorpe to England to ensure fair trade and the rights of his people.

10: GEORGIA'S FIRST SETTLEMENT
11: The first settlement in Georgia was in Savannah. The American tribe called Yamacraws was the first tribes to settle in Savannah during the 18th century. Savannah was established as the state capital of Georgia in 1733. | The Yamacraw people.

13: England declared war on Spain in 1739 because of a desire to dominate trade in the Atlantic basin.

16: BECOMING A ROYAL COLONY 1752-1754
