FC: The Skate Monster | By: Ryan Garcia

One day I was skateboarding with my friend Tanner. We were skateboarding like always on the sidewalk near my house.

All of a sudden, a HUGE monster made of cement popped up from the sidewalk out of nowhere.

The monster had a button on the side of him. If you pressed the button, everything the monster had eaten would come flying out of his mouth.

I could tell the skate monster was hungry. Tanner and I jumped off our skateboards and ran for our lives. Tanner was running too slow and I heard a loud noise behind me. I think the skate monster gobbled him up!

I was running so fast I must have passed my house. I looked up and saw I was already at 42nd street. I had to turn around to get home and Tanner was nowhere in sight. I couldnt see the monster anymore either.

At home I was safe, but I was out of breath and had to think fast about how to get to Tanner and get our skateboards back. I had to find a way to push that cement monster's button.

Aha! I looked out my window and saw the construction workers taking a lunch break outside my house. I wondered if they'd notice if I borrowed their steam roller??

I ran back outside, hopped up into the drivers seat of the steam roller, put my foot on the pedal , and pushed the handle to go forward.

It sounded like a T-rex growling. I rolled over the sidewalk and down the street until I could see the cement monster's back. The button was so close but I couldnt reach it.

The construction worker had left his hat in the cab. I reached over and grabbed it like a frisbee and threw it at the cement monster. POW! The orange hard hat hit right on target. The monster dropped to the ground and his mouth flew open wide.

Skateboards flew out of his mouth and looked like birds soaring high up in the sky. I could hear Tanner and other kids too. Out came my friend. I barely recognized him because he was covered with goo and slime.

Tanner hopped up on the steam roller and said GO! We went forward and ran over the skate monster making him kind of flat. His big open mouth was now empty and his body stuck to the hot cement. Since his mouth was open he looked like a half pipe.

We drove the steam roller back and forth until a perfect ramp was formed.

I heard my friend Tanner say , " Hey Ryan are you OK?" I was tired from running. I looked up and felt really sleepy. All my friends were standing around me and I was at the top of the halfpipe. " "DUDE! That was a MONSTER jump you just landed! " I heard someone say.

My skateboard was next to me. I scratched my head and said, "Yep , I guess it was."

I don't really know what happened that day but Tanner and I laugh every time we see a big button to push that says " PRESS HERE"
