FC: Slavery In Africa | Back in 1500 was when the slave trade in Africa started. Many slaves were being shipped across the Atlantic ocean.

1: How Slavery Started | Slavery started a long time ago in Africa. Its said that slavery has been around since ancient times, but it was not till the 1500's that slaves started being sold to people as workers. Slaves were used as field workers or house workers. Some slaves were put on ships to sail or fight in war.

2: How Slavery Affected Africa | One cause of the slavery in Africa was that when Europe needed Africa's raw materials, but because of the slave trade, some parts of Africa would not give Europe materials. | Also because of the slave trade, a lot of wars between countries happened. Some people were fighting for materials. | Some countries were trading slaves for guns as well as other goods.

3: The End of Slavery | Slavery ended in 1848 when Victor Schoelcher, the French secretary for the colonies, signed a decree abolishing slavery. Slaves were free and able to do what they wanted to do now. They could go home and start their lives over.
