FC: African Slave Trade

1: The slave trade came about when plantation owners in America and the West Indian Islands had a demand for slaves. Because of this, the demand for slaves was filled by European and New England merchants who were working with natives from Africa. | The Africans who conquered their neighbors sold the them to the Europeans and to New England.

2: The Slave trade infused the local economy in Africa. But at the same time, it seriously hurt Africa due to reducing the population. Which in turn made fewer people in Africa competing for the resources there. As the demand for the resources dropped, so did the prices in Africa./ The slave trade also scared the people who were still left in Africa, so most of the people stayed in their houses for fear they would be captured and put into the slave trade.

3: Over all, the slave trade affected Africa very poor and degrading way. The slave trade also caused families to be split up and separated from their loved ones for life. The African culture suffered as well. It also caused white Europeans to settle into parts of Africa, and the Dutch and Portuguese settled into West Africa.
