BC: This is a symbol of the end of my childhood. Just like my daddy said killing a mockingbird is a sin. The town and all the happened "killed" my childhood. I had to grow up fast. All photos courtesy of www.google.com Images.
FC: Scout's Memories
Me and my brother, Jem who is my best friend. You can't really tell but one arm is shorter than the other.
This is Atticus, my dad. This is how I see him in my mind.
I am one mad person! I got in trouble at school for knowing how to read and I don't even know how I learned!
Dill, my new best friend. He is staying with his Aunt Rachel and boy am I glad. We will get married some day!
This is Miss Maudie. I love talking to her. She always has something to say. She knows about everyone.
This is how we spend a lot of our summer until some bad things happen. Then it all changed!
The first of the bad things--Miss Maudie's house fire. It was awful.
The house where we spent our days, good and bad.
This is the three of us: Me, Jem and my friend, Dill.
Calpurnia, our cook, spent a lot of time keeping an eye on me and bossing me around. I learned to love her because she was there for me.
Calpurnia's friend, Tom. He has been accused of a terrible crime against a white woman.
Atticus talking to me about all the bad things people will be saying about us since he was defending Mr. Tom Robinson. It was hard to understand but I somehow knew he was right.
The empty courtroom. Going to court to watch the big trial against Tom was a big, scary thing. My daddy let us go and we even sat in the colored section!
The beautiful mockingbird that Atticus said never harmed anyone and just sang beautiful songs. He warned us not to shot at them with our new guns.
Miss Mayella Ewell who accused Tom of hurting her. I didn't like her and I didn't believe her either!
Atticus talking to me after the first day in the courtroom. It scared me and I was never the same after that first day.
Atticus talking to all three of us about staying away from Boo Radley's house. He was a man we were all curious about. He never left his house and we just wanted to see him. We wanted to know what he really was like.
Atticus and Tom at the defense table in court. It was a scary time for us. I was scared for Atticus, Tom Robinson, and our whole family. What would the future be like?
Atticus giving me a hug, even if I didn't want one. He was trying to tell me that everything would be okay!
