EARLY MORNING FLIGHTS | One early morning in April, 2009, a group of Ben Lomond High School juniors from Doug Stephen's class woke up early to catch their flight to Washington,D.c. | I was really nervous to fly but my friends and my i-pod got met hrough!
Almost settled in... | Once the flight landed, we had to go pick up the infamous white vans. The car-rental took forever but leave it to us to make it fun | We were all very tired which probably brought out the sillies in all of us but we were so excited to get our trip started that we couldn't wait to get to the hotel and fall asleep
Finally at the hotel in Rockville, Maryland. Left: Savannah, Tiffanee, and Daisha with our crazy plane hair. Middle: The beautiful hotel view from our room. Right: Who thought it was a good idea to give me Life-Saver Gummies?
Day One: Fort McHenry | Looking out over the beautiful bay-one of the most beautiful sites of my life | So many great men. However will I choose? | Best friends at the bay | Chantel, Michelle's thumb, Tiffanee, me, and Savannah on top of the Fort. The wind was so strong all of our eyes kept closing
After all of us took turns climbing on the cannons, playing on the cannons and even seeing if we could fit into a cannon, we saw this lovely sign that said, "Do Not Climb On Cannons." Ooopsies! | Chantel and I were very sad to be trapped in jail but thankfully the boys let us out! | Below are some of the artifacts from fort McHenry. On the far left is a draft of the Star Spangled Banner which was inspired by the events of Fort McHenry. In the middle is an actual "bomb that was used at the Fort. | Nest to it, is a layout of what the fort looks like. Top right is a picture of one of the eerie bunkers and below that is the flag at the Fort. Watching the raising of the flag while listening to the Star Spangled banner and the history of the fort definitely gave me a new apprication for our flag.
Baltimore's Inner Harbor | The breath-taking Baltimore Skyline | Baltimore was so much fun! We went to the inner harbor to enjoy an afternoon of cannons, street performers, shopping, and historic Naval ships. I will definitely return one day!
This was the face Ranger made right after he jumped off a ledge that looked like he jumped into the water. He scared us all for a minute but he had actually jumped onto some rocks we couldn't see...punk. | The street performers, the cannons we could actually play on and Savannah's store!
ON THE SHIPS | In the Baltimore harbor we paid for a ticket to climb aboard all the historical ships | The U.S.S Constellation was my favorite ship we boarded. Tiffanee and I couldn't resist reinacting The Titanic while we had the chance | Headed down to the bunkers | Left: we made Savannah swab the deck. Above: Tiffannee right after she caught her bag after almost dropping it in the water.
Right:The View from USS Torsk. Above: Since I'm a Navy Grand-brat we thought this hat suited me | One of the actual flags pulled off the U.S.S. Torsk | They were able to fit 4 men in this tiny hole
Night One: Washington D.C. Temple | The beautiful gold doors | The temple is so tall that you have to lay down to get pictures of the top | The group of all the kids that decided to go that night.
Good times in the room: Tiffanee with a spoon on her nose. | Van ride on the morning of day two. Skyler stole my glasses... | I stole Ranger's glasses... | Then Ranger stole them back and modeled.
