1: The Norths transportation was based on railroads. An advantage they had over the South. | The North was based on industrialization, anything involving machines. | North
2: The Souths transportation was based on water since they were surrounded by water. | The Souths economy was based on agriculture. | The South was slave dependent because they were the ones who picked the cotton. | The South
3: The Missouri Compromise was made to keep the power balanced in the government between free states & slave states . | The Missouri Compromise | Anything above the 36’30 line was admitted as a free state. Anything under the 36’30 line was a slave State.
4: The Election Of 1860 | The 1860 election was between Abraham Lincoln & Stephen A. Douglas. | 39.9 % Of The popular vote was for Abraham LIncoln.
5: Abraham Lincoln | Lincoln created the Emancipation Proclamation which made the Civil War about Slavery. | Abraham was killed after the Civil War ended, so he never got to reunite the nation again. Andrew Johnson was then moved into presidency.
6: The Civil War | The Civil War started after the firing upon Fort Sumter. The strengths of the North were its population, wealth, and it was technologically advanced. The strength of the South was its military leadership.
7: Don't think: Look! -Ludwig Wittgenstein | Antietam | The Battle of Antietam started on a September day in 1862, in a little town called Sharpsburg, along Antietam Creek. | The Unions victory in this battle, was what Lincoln needed in order to create the Emancipation Proclamation.
8: The Battle of Gettysburg | The Union and Confederate soldiers met on July 1, 1863. 17,500 Union Soldiers died. 23,000 Confederate Soldiers died. | After this General Robert E. Lee never tried to attack on north territory again.
9: The Reconstruction | The Reconstruction was the era after the Civil War. | The freedmen was receiving help as well as being discriminated. The Freedman's Bureau is one of the choices they had for help.
