S: Woods Family 2011

BC: 2011 What a year! We got a record amount of snow for 2010/2011. Lots of shoveling and blowing occurred. However, as of the end of this year, December 30th, 2011, we have no snow on the ground and temperature in the 40's is being promised next week. You could say we are in a drought. Riley continued to work for Jimmy John's and he got Natalie a job there when she came home for the summer college break. Natalie took her Hastings JJ work experience to Stevens Point and she was hired within a week of starting school. (They actually hired her on the spot.) Our camping trips have changed because the bigger kids were no longer able to come with as they had to work. We camped at Frontenac State Park and loved it there. There are great hiking trails on the steep hills over the lake. We camped for two weeks at Shell Lake. Mom and Ken spent most of that time with us. It was wonderful to be on the lake with our camper. Stephanie made some great friends the 2nd week with some kids in the camper next door. We used Ken's (actually Ron's) boat and rode around the lake and fished and pulled the raft and Stephanie behind it. We also bought Riley a blow-up boat so he could fish the lake when he wanted. We gained a cute, little dog this year. Bella was found in a field and my cousin couldn't keep her. She's a sweet dog with a little adjusting to do with us. She doesn't bark much, licks a lot, likes to be under the blankets and will potty in the house if left unattended. We get really excited when we see her do something dog like. . . barking, chewing a bone, running in the yard. Steve lost his job 3 times this year. CompuCom kept warning him he would be let go. Finally, with 3 days notice, he lost his job at the end of June. Starting with Thomson Reuters with high hopes in September Steve has learned that this new job is truly a no-skill call center job, wasting his skills. We hope that 2012 will bring a better job. Steve also hopes to pursue and accomplish some college credits. Natalie started her third year of college at Stevens Point, Wisconsin with hopes to be a wildlife biologist. She got into a new apartment dorm and enjoys the luxury accommodations and her roommates. Between school and Jimmy Johns she keeps very busy. Riley started his final year of high school. He is planning to attend school for engineering drafting and design at Globe College. (His original plan was for NTI, but Globe bought them.) Riley keeps busy with his job at Jimmy Johns and didn't participate in marching band or orchestra this year. Riley enjoyed natural resources this year. The teacher made the class fun and interesting. Stephanie started Middle School this year. She participated in a play, Beauty and the Beast. She joined choir and tries out for every singing and speaking part possible. Stephanie plans to join sports in 7th grade as there are not many sports offered for 6th graders. Stephanie plays the bass clarinet this year. She has learned more about horseback riding and is in love with a horse named Emmett. Her hopes is to some day lease her own horse. Grandma and Grandpa Woods came for a visit at the end of July. We took them to the Little Log House and to visit the kids at Jimmy John's. Their stay was short and they were gone before we know it. Grandma T retired at the end of the year at the age of 70. She plans to go back to work 1 day a week with Judge Spicer. Ken and Grandpa Woods also turned 70 this year. Robyn and James informed us they were pregnant. It's going to be a boy! Robyn's due at the end of February. Everyone is very excited. We are so excited for 2012 and to see what lies ahead. My hope is that I will have a book of photos next year that will be twice as large with tons of memories. Happy New Year!

That one is the cat. | Cats know how to obtain food without labor, shelter without confinement and love without penalties. | If a dog jumps into your lap it is because he is fond of you; but if a cat does the same thing it is because your lap is warmer. | Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods. 88: "Today is a special day, it is my parents' wedding day. They were married on December 23, 1938. It was really hard back then. My mother had my brother Larry in 1939, Linda in 1940, Gene in 1941, me in 1943, David in 1945, Jerry in 1946, and Kathy in 1947. Seven children in ten years during the war and depression time was tough, but we had more love from our parents and each other than many people have in a whole lifetime. I remember my Dad had to go out and milk cows so we would have milk at breakfast and Mom would cook biscuits on a wood burning cook stove. We always had something at Christmas. It might have been small, but we always got an orange and candy and a book and a toy. My Mother would go in her bedroom and close the door and tell us not to peek or Santa would not bring us anything....She would be wrapping gifts. We didn't have a TV until I was around 8 or 9 and a telephone when I was 16. Times have changed, but the love of families has not. Merry Christmas to all of you. Love Mom and Dad Woods"

97: A major accomplishment. We enlarged our downstairs bathroom. This is the result! | May he always.... | Shhh.
