S: Yellowstone Trip 2012

FC: Yellowstone Trip 2012 Brianna and Dad

 We first stopped at Carhendge.

Then went to Scotts Bluff National monument where the rain was on the way.

We drove to Casper, where we were staying for the night. Across the street we saw this cool restaurant.

Along the way to the Tetons and Yellowstone, we saw some awesome scenery and stopped to take pictures.

After entering Grand Teton National Park, we stopped at a spot in the river to take some background shots of the Tetons.

A walk around the lake was a relaxing time of adventure.

We stopped at some falls just inside the park entrance. People were swimming in the bigger one.

Old Faithful is taking about an hour between eruptions. We waited with new friend's and talked about photos.

We went to Yellowstone Canyon and saw upper and lower falls. We walked down to the observation areas for both. The power of the water was awesome!! We got there at sunset the first day and went back the next day to see more.

We were told at the entrance that the buffalo were migrating and on the road. We saw one and thought it was awesome and then were stopped for over an hour as a whole heard went across. At one point about 10 galloped across the road and back in front of us. There was one sitting on the ground I got close to before we watched the film about why you shouldn't. It was totally cool to see them without cages.

We came up to a bunch of stopped cars and got out to see these beautiful animals eating.

The hot water ran right into the river. Brianna was totally enthused with the hot springs. We walked around the path and she saw lots of hats that had blown off.

We stopped to see the mud pots which are superheated mud that erupt. The cave below was called the Dragons Den.

On the way back home, we stopped in at the Wild Bill Cody Trade store. They had a huge mock up of the wild west show that actually worked.

We took a trip to Yellowstone in the first part of August of 2012. It was awesome and we made a lot of memories. Along the way, we went to Scotts Bluff National monument, Carhenge and Grand Teton National Park. I did not expect the amount of driving that we would do. We were in the car driving an average of 8-10 hours a day. We had plenty of time to stop and see the sites though. The car time didn't bother us at all as we listened to CD books by Rick Riordan, the Throne of Fire and the Red Pyramid. I remember having a pillow fight with my daughter in the hotel room, being scared when the bison galloped in front of our car and my favorite memory was the Canyon Falls at the Yellowstone. Briana remember smacking me in the face with a pillow, doing funny pictures with chimney rock, taking pictures of the elk, the hot springs and hot mud volcano. We saw old faithful twice. We waited about 30 minutes each time. We met a new friend from California that liked to take pictures also. We went around the park with him. Briana thought she set off the fire alarm in our hotel room and was pretty scared about it. She thought the police were gonna come take her away. Briana saw the arch for the first time over the interstate and thought that was pretty cool. We walked around the hot springs and thought it was really neat how the hot water left beautiful colored segments. | We drove from Lincoln to Casper Wyoming and watched Young Sherlock Holmes in the hotel. The next day we drove to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone and spent time taking pictures of the mountains, walking along the lake, checking out waterfalls and old faithful. We went to the Canyon and took the trail down to the brink of the falls. It was awesome watching the water go over and splash down to over 300 ft below. After it got too dark to take pictures, we drove two hours to Cody. I thought it was gonna be a quick drive when I made the reservations but it turned out it was not. On the third day, we went back through the park and took some more canyon pictures, saw a lot of bison, some new sites like the mud and old faithful again. We took another trail down to the Upper Falls and saw that from the brink. The canyon was beautiful and very majestic. Made me feel small and appreciate my God.We got to Casper pretty late. I was tired of driving so we stayed in Kearney the next day. We stopped in north Platte at the Wild Bill Cody Trading Post. It had a miniature mock up of the Wild Bill Cody parade and Show. it was really cool. Brianna likes those. We finished the trip at the grand island waterpark where we slid down the slides and relaxed in the Lazy River.
