FC: Sun,Moon, Stars & Earth By:Sam & Gus

Moon The moon has a diameter of 2200 miles! The moon has more craters on the near side (from our perspective,) than the far side. | The moon is made of rock and dust. The moon gets its light from the sun. The moon has more craters than the earth because meteors burn up in the earth's atmosphere (But the earth still has craters.) There are 144 known moons in our solar system.

Earth Earth is mostly made of rock and water. Because of earth's atmosphere many meteors don't often hit before they burn up. Since the earth is tilted on its axis the seasons change, but on the equator there are no seasons it is just always hot because the equator is always closer the sun. The earth is 7,901 miles in diameter!

Stars | Stars are much brighter than they seem. In fact a star lights up the entire earth called the sun. | If you get to close to a star you will burn up. {that shows how hot they are}. | The stars are made out of very hot gas balls.

Sun | It is impossible to visit the sun because you would burn up and die Because of heat so intense no one knows how hot it is. | Even though it is made of fire it has cold places called sun spots. | It is made of fire and gases. it is the star that gives us light!

The sun's heat is so intense that on Mercury (the closest planet to the sun.) it is over 400 degrees in the day. The sun has 8 natural satellites. A natural satellite is something that is not man made that orbits something.
