2: The ocelot is in the domain Eukaryota, and in the kingdom animalia. Its scientific name is the leopardus paradalis. The length of the ocelot (not including the tail) is 55 cm to 101.5 cm, and can weigh up to 18 kg. It is a carnivore.
3: The ocelot usually lives in South America, but has recently moved into the southern area of the U.S. It lives in humid rainy areas such as rain forests.
4: The ocelot usually hunts at night and eats frogs, birds, and small rodents. Because of the thick plant growth it can stalk its prey without being seen until it strikes. The ocelot is an agile hunter.
5: The ocelot is endangered because of its fine fur. For hundreds of years so its fur can be sold. Some people want them as pets, so hunters are killing the mothers and taking their kittens.
6: There are about two-hundred ocelots left in the world. In most of the countries it lives in it is illegal to hunt them, but hunters break the law every now and then.
7: Some interesting facts. The ocelot's fur, unlike regular animals, grows forward. Not one ocelot's spots is the same. Ocelots are rather good pets.
