FC: Yellowstone National Park Summer - 2011

 Taking Carmen Camping in Yellowstone

 Our Campsite

This is us hanging out at camp.

From reading in the sun, to trying to shovel out the firepit out of the snow, to roasting marshmallows in the pit nextdoor to just playing cards in the trailer, we had fun. Not to mention eating! | We had fun, just being with each other at the campsite. | Woo, campfire | Kate, put the stick down! | S'mores, Mmmm!

Day One | On the first day we visited Mammoth Hot Springs & The Mud Volcano, which was a lot of geysers (aka; lots of rotten eggs!) | We started at Mammoth Hot Springs

Now we're off to the Mud Volcano! There's some cool stuff here as well.

I can see our car from here!

Gosh, Dad has awesome timing. Obviously it's not the exact same moment, but close enough!

I wish I could've put the sound of this in here for you, it was really neat!

 Day Two

 The Falls

 The Falls

The falls were probably the coolest views in the trip. There was the upper falls (to the left) and the lower falls (to the right). We got right up close to the lower falls, after just a short (but steep) hike.

This bright blue bird caught out eye at Old Faithful And these elk were right across the street from us in the Mammoth Springs area

The Wildlife | This buffalo comes waltzing down the middle of the right side of the road! | We saw the coyote while driving around While we saw the prairie dog at Mammoth and the chipmunk at the falls

This grizzly bear we saw from only 50 feet away! He started coming down the hill and every freaked out | This was the first bear we saw, a black bear, it was quite a ways off

This is the last bear we saw as we were exiting the park | This was a mother bear with her cubs, unfortunately you can't see the little guys in the picture

 Old Faithful | Day Four

 Old Faithful

We saw a beaver dam Awesome!

Besides all of the signs telling you the common sense what not to do, there was a 'trail closed' sign under the walk waiting for an emergency

These geysers were quite cool in person, though none of them off except one (on the next page)

This one is called heat spring, but we don't really think it looks like a heart. Actually, it looks a lot like Switzerland...

Anemone Geyser is the one we nicknamed 'Toilet Geyser' because after it goes off, the water gets sucked back in making it look exactly like a toilet flushing

We saw it go off once as we entered and once before we left.
