Steffi Gabriella Aka "Gabbie joins the Thomassen family"

I was born on Tuesday, September 22, 2009. I was one of four girls, two of us were black and two of us were chocolate.

I was adopted by the Thomassen family on Tuesday, November 24 at the ripe old age of 9 weeks. I weighed 3.4 pounds and stood about 5 inches tall.

Upon arrival at my new home, I was introduced to Gunter, who would be my big brother. He is much bigger than I am, but I will grow and catch up to him. He was checking me out very closely. But he did bring me one of the toys that was bought for me and dropped it close by.

I soon learned that I was an early Christmas present for Teresa. She loves Gunter so much that she wanted another dog like him. Plus she wanted Gunter to have company when they couldn't be at home.

I am starting to settle in and play around with the toys and Gunter.

Gunter and I love to chew on the flexibones.

I like most all of my toys and I work hard at trying to keep them in one spot. I move them one by one to the living room floor.

I love to play with toys that make loud squeaking noises. The louder the better! I like to try to take toys away from Gunter, too. I have gotten pretty good at getting the toy.

When I was a little over 3 months old, I took my first trip to the groomers. I went with my big brother Gunter, so I wasn't too scared. I think they did a good job with my hair cut even though I was a little wiggly. Well, it tickled.

I am not real sure about this scarf around my neck. If I can just chew a little more, it will be history.

Teresa loves taking our picture. We have to sit and watch her until the big light flashes.

Sometimes it is hard to watch her if something else gets our attention.

I am learning lots of things in my new English language. I know come, wait, sit, check your bowl, touch, find it, go upstairs, go out, potty, and all of my family member's names. I can also play fetch.

That's a lot to know at five months of age. I am going to be very smart!

When we have played and played, Gunter and I love to lay in front of the fire. I get extra warm and have to move, but Gunter can stay there longer than I can.

I am growing. At five months, I weigh 8.6 pounds and have grown to about 7.5 inches.

It has finally dried up and warmed up enough that I get to go outside to play. I love to be outside! Sometimes it is hard for me to come back into the house because I want to explore all there is to see, do, and taste.

I would rather go play than to pose for a picture. What is that I see over there?

I am still growing and learning new stuff. At seven months old, I now weigh 11.8 lbs. I can stand on the scale by myself to get weighed.

My personality is turning out to be very sweet. I love to sit in Teresa's lap for loving and cuddling. I also race to the door when I hear Jim coming home from work.

I think I am lucky to have a great family that loves me and takes good care of me. | But most of all, I love being a Miniature Schnauzer named Gabbie.
