FC: Life On A Farm | By Chip Scherich
My name is Chip and I live on a farm in Alabama. I may not look like a farm dog but I have lots to do.
Alabama is in the southern part of the United States.
I live in Leesburg, Alabama. It is right next to Centre.
In the spring the flowers bloom and crops are planted. | I live on a crop farm.
There are lots of bugs to chase and watch. Ants build huge anthills.
Birds migrate back and make their homes in the trees and birdhouses.
Bees come out of their hive to get pollen to make honey. | I love to chase bees.
The birds lay eggs in the spring. I guard the nests and the birdhouses.
Baby birds are a lot like puppies. They eat and sleep a lot. The mama birds stay busy bringing them food.
In the summer I am the star lifeguard. I love to swim.
When muskrats, turtles and chipmunks get in the pool I sound the alarm by barking. | I make sure the pool cleaner stays in the pool.
In the fall the leaves change colors. | Then the leaves fall off the trees.
I can watch the big tractors as they come to harvest the crops.
In the winter it gets colder and I wear a jacket. Sometimes it even snows and covers up the pool.
I don't always want to go outside. I like to stay warm and comfy inside.
There are lots of wild animals around the farm. They leave tracks and smells.
I use my super sense of smell to track the animals.
When storms come I hide. I don't like thunder.
My favorite days are sunny and warm.
No matter what season it is there is always lots to do on a farm.
From sun up to sun down I am a farm dog on the job.
