21: Oops! She did it again! Mrs. B. has added Lilly, another Bernese from Taiwan to her pack!
22: Jill works for the Northern California Golden Retriever Rescue. She helps find homes for the dogs from Taiwan, like Sophie. She and her dog Harley visited our class to share how dogs are rescued. Jill first saw a picture of Harley on May 17. When she saw his picture, she knew it was destiny. She knew she would do "whatever it took to get this baby to the United States." NGRR and other rescue organizations bring dogs to the United States from Taiwan, pulling only the non-desirable breeds in that country. Currently, there are 500,000 plus dogs on the streets of Taiwan. by Antwanice and Leilani note: Harley was found near a landfill in central Taiwan. He was very skinny and weighed only 40 lbs. He had wounds on his body and serious problems with his hips. His back legs were dragging. The Taiwan rescue group named him Handsome and posted his photo.
24: The students in Ms. Crawford's fifth grade class were excited to tell Sophie's story and to meet her. The pages in the book were created by Ms. C.
25: She is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are her life, her love, her leader. She will be yours, faithful and true, 'til the last beat of her heart. You owe it to her to be worthy of her devotion.- Anonymous
