2: Early Years | Chris was born on May 27, 1990. He is son to Karyn and Tim Colfer, he also has a sister named Hannah. He lived in Clovis in Fresno California. | Chris attended Clovis East High School. "I was a really, really good kid. I mean, I wasn't necessarily the best student.” Chris says. 3: Activities | Chris was a three time speech a debate champion and he edited the school's magazine. He also acted in the community theater in Clovis. 4: Hannah Colfer, who is 14 has epilepsy and she is the 3% that medication cannot help her. She can have as many as 50 seizures an hour. Chris' mom describes him as a hero to Hannah. Chris spent most of his time with Hannah and would do whatever she wanted to do. He gave up most of his social life for her and he was selfless when it came to her. Karyn says, “When Chris was growing up, people would actually ask him, 'Are you going to become a doctor so you can find a cure for your sister?' And he would say, 'I'm going to grow up and become a famous actor so I can pay someone ELSE tons of money to find a cure.'" | Brother and Sister
5: How It Started Part 2 | Chris auditioned for Glee when he was 18. He tried out for a character that was already created but Ryan Murphy (the creator of Glee) said, “I just thought he was so talented and gifted and unusual. I’ve never seen anyone who looks like him or acts like him or sounds like him. You’d think he’d been at Juilliard for six years but he hasn’t.” so he created Chris his own character which is Kurt Hummel and he has been on Glee ever since.
6: Awards | Chris has won 9 Teen Choice Awards, 4 Emmys, 4 Golden Globes, 4 People’s Choice Awards, 2 Do Something Awards, 2 GLAAD Media Awards and many more.
7: Charity | Chris donated a large amount of money to the nonprofit group CURE (Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy). He has also donated drawings to Penny Sprague for Labrador Rescuers of San Diego. He also has a video on YouTube for the Trevor Project – It Gets Better.
