It sets the imagination on fire.

It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more." ~ Dr. Seuss

Jacob climbed the mountain, walked the old railroad, touched the Ohio river and wove cloth on an old loom. (top right) He was pretty good at it too. Ruthie and Mommy made old fashioned kids games, colored pictures, and watched the cows eat grass.
See that glittery tiara? I was queen of sales in my Mary Kay unit and wore it for a week. Even while hiking the Hoffman Falls.
After the hike we got in the van with the rest of the group. I looked at Ruthie and noticed something moving in her hair. It was a TIC! I was still squirming from the snakes that we had seen. It had already started to burrow. I called the tour guide over who examined it and deftly pinched and pulled it right out.
Carrie, Ben, Jacob, Ruthie and I opted to take the tour of the golf course simply because we got to drive the cart. That thing can really move! The free hot dogs were a great perk too.
The kids climbed in, on, and around the fire engine so much that they were finally asked to not climb THROUGH the engine. It was quite funny really. We just thought it was a big block in the middle. oops! Madison has one of the last volunteer fire stations left in the USA.

This fountain is beautiful. It is a highlight of Madison. We love stopping by to see Jordan at work. (That is the funeral home in the back ground.) Or shop the farmers market that is held here each week for yummy breads and fresh produce.
What an exhausting week of fun and games! We saw Lincoln and his wife, toured the Lanier mansion, hiked the Heritage trail, and rode the trolley around town. The re-enactments of the civil war were cool, but the tractor parade was funner. We sat in the car and ate ice cream!

Rainstorms are incredible here. Post rain is beautiful. We love to walk around and take pictures while everything is wet. Below is Ruthie picking some red berries that she did NOT eat but her fingers are so tiny and cute I couldn't resist letting her try while I caught this precious moment on camera.
