58: ROBERT AND COURTNEY DAY | On December 17, 2010 Robert proposed to Courtney. It was their first day home after the fall semester at Kent and they planned to spend the whole entire day together. Their day started with lunch at Bravo. Bravo is one of their favorite places to eat. After lunch they went to the Canton Garden Center to take pictures in the snow. They had a great time taking pictures and then Robert took Courtney to see a movie that he picked out just for her. It was all about picking the right person to be with forever. Afterwards Robert asked Courtney what she wanted to do next. She knew we had planned to go for a walk and get hot chocolate but I thought it would be fun to go bowling. They stopped by target to see if there were any hats for our chilly walk and then Robert thought they should walk before we go bowling. So they went to Sheetz and got hot chocolate for Courtney and he drank his apple cider. On our walk in his neighborhood we looked at the Christmas lights and talked about the many times we had walked around in his neighborhood and the special moments they have had. When they got done with their walk they sat down by the side of the house that they call their spot. They both made a wish on a star and Robert told Courtney how much she meant to him and was making a spot on the grass. Courtney was sure that he was going to propose right there but then he told her that he loved her. Robert hadn't said that he loved her since they were together many many years before hand. He had instead decided to be his silly self and wait to say it at a very special time instead. But after all of this Robert stood up and said OK let's go bowling now! Courtney was somewhat disappointed but still excited to go bowling. Then Robert stopped in the place where they both made a wish on a shooting star the first night they were together. Robert said do you want to pretend and handed Courtney the bottle of Apple Cider and asked her to take the plastic ring off of it so they could pretend. (The apple cider ring had been a running joke with the two of them for the past few months. He then got down on one knew in the snow and pulled out the real ring to propose. He said many sweet things and then asked her to marry him. Of course she said YES and then they hugged! Little did she know that everyone was inside waiting to congratulate them. Her mom, grandma, and Holly had parked around the corner so that they couldn't see the car on their walk. Cindy had a cake ready for them and they all celebrated. Robert told Courtney that the diamond in her ring was from his grandma's anniversary ring. After everyone left Robert still had surprises for Courtney. Her went through a list that he had made for her the year before and explained all 100 things that he put in his favorite things about her computer program. He then sang we a song that he wrote for her in response to a poem that she wrote during a tough time. They had a wonderful night and have enjoyed all of their engagement!
