S: Bamboo people Mitali Perkins

BC: The theme of this story is that just because some one is your enemy doesn't mean they are bad people. In this story the biggest example was when Tu Reh decided not to kill chiko because he felt bad for him. even if someone is my enemy and i see something bad happen to them i sometimes feel bad for the person. When someone is hurt or down you should really help them the best you can.

1: chiko is a Burmese child who's father was taken away. He wants to provide for him and his mother, so he goes to take a test to become a teacher to make some money. when he goes to take the test Burmese solders pored into the room and took all the children there to fight against the rebels. Chiko gets injured by a mine and one of the rebels decides not to kill him. he is kept in a refugee camp where he becomes friends with the person who found them and both of there stories are very close and they become good friends
