FC: Ishtar, Gilgamesh, and the death of Enkidu
Ishtar asks Gilgamesh to marry her. He scornfully rejects and insults her. She goes to her father Anu and asks for the Bull of Heaven to destroy Gilgamesh. | He grants her this wish. Now there will be 7 years of drought.
Ishtar send the Bull of Heaven to Uruk. It snorts with rage. Enkidu jumps on it's back and cries out to Gilgamesh to slash it between the horns. Ishtar utters a curse to make Gilgamesh miserable. Enkidu hears her and jerks out the bull's right thigh and throws it at her face saying "If I could lay my hands on you, this is what I would do."
The brothers rest. Enkidu dreams that since the bull is dead, either he or Gilgamesh must die. Enkidu blames the harlot, a friend of Ishtar. Shamash explains to Enkidu that the harlot is innocent. Enkidu takes back the curse.
Enkidu has another dream that a bird man takes him to the Queen of Darkness to never return again. For twelve days, Enkidu stays in bed terribly sick.
"I will make this whole city weep for you!" Gilgamesh whispers as Enkidu dies. Gilgamesh summoned to the coppersmiths to have a statue made in Enkidu's name. The hurt ceased.
