S: Jacob William Arnold (2007-2011)

BC: J.W.A. | Life All in the dark we grope along, And if we go amiss We learn at least which path is wrong, And there is gain in this. We do not always win the race By only running right, We have to tread the mountain's base Before we reach its height. * * * * * But he who loves himself the last And knows the use of pain, Though strewn with errors all his past, He surely shall attain. Some souls there are that needs must taste Of wrong, ere choosing right; We should not call those years a waste Which led us to the light.

FC: Greatness is not in where we stand, but in what direction we are moving. We must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it - but sail we must, and not drift, nor lie at anchor. ~ Oliver Wendell Homes | 2011 Graduate

1: Jacob, I am SO proud of the person you have become. You've had a big impact on me and I know I would not be where I am today with out some of your influence. Even though you are younger, you are still a role model to me at times. Your devotion to God and to your morals & values is truly amazing and an example to everyone. You have great character and an individual personality that I hope never changes. Jacob, I consider you my brother and love you very much. I feel like we are very close and like I can be myself around you and that won't change. I am so blessed to know you and want you to know that I will always consider you family and will be there for you and support you no matter whatl. Doherty | "Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity." 1 Timothy 4:12

11: What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel that they are joined for life - to be with each other in silent unspeakable memories. ~George Eliot | Other things may change us, but we start and end with family. ~Anthony Brandt | Jacob, To the best wasp killing, scorpion crushing guy I know. You truly have been a blessing to the entire family and I have been so fortunate to have seen you grow into the young man you are today. Congratulations on all of your accomplishments and I am looking forward to seeing you excel in your new chapter at ETBU. To best sum up my thoughts about you I will quote a phrase from a very close friend of mine: "The Force Is Strong In This One". I love you like you were my own. Congratulations Jacob! -Chris

12: Jacob, my beautiful son. I remember looking at you as a baby and crying because you were so precious and I was so blessed and I still get choked up with overflowing emotions when I think back on your life or watch as you amaze me over and over again. You have been a blessing to my life in so many ways. You have given me love, compassion and A LOT of laughter and smiles. Most importantly, I thank you for helping me establish my relationship with God and allowing me to watch Him transform your life. When you told me that He was leading you to ETBU, I was doubtful and I apologize for that. I prayed and He reassured me and I knew He would make all this work out for you. It was amazing seeing Him exceed my expectations. He is laying out your path. I know you have a solid relationship with Him, Keep Him at the center of your world and I know He will continue to bless you above all our imaginations. I’m excited for your new journey, but also sad because I’m going to miss you so much. You have a wonderful heart and I'm so proud to be your mother. I love you so very much! Keep your light shining darlin', you will be a great fisher of men! | "I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly"- jesus. John 10:10 Jesus promised to provide a surplus of what makes life worth living- things like love, grace, guidance, forgiveness, and joy. I know God has blessed our family with all of these things through his son Jesus and through you. You are the light that guides us and the one who brought us closer as a family by leading us all back to Him with your amazing faith. I know that as you continue your journey of life you will lead many more people and do great things by His hand. College won't be the easiest endeavor but I know you'll get through it as you do everything else, with flying colors and a big smile on your face. Just remember even when things are tough you have a family at home who loves and supports you eternally and who couldn't be prouder of the amazing person you are. Love you Bubba, Jordan | Bubba, It's been amazing watching you grow into such an amazing young man, I love you so much. You have always been my best friend and my baby brother. I hope you continue to succeed in life and I'm sure you will. I will miss you when you go away for ETBU, but know you will have fun. I love you Jacob William Arnold. Love Always, Justine Alyssa

14: Jake, A little over 17 years ago, your mother told me that you were going to come. I will always remember going fishing in the Potomac River and helping you become potty-trained. It has been a really long journey for you since that time. You have had many obstacles to deal with since that time. You have grown up to become a wonderful young man. I can not believe that you are going to graduate from high school already and getting ready to embark on another path. I know that you will succeed in your future endeavors with the Lord and your family by your side. It is a great privilege for me to call you my son and have people in California tell me how wonderful of a person you are. I am so proud of everything that you have done with your life. I love you so much and am looking forward to coming to your next graduation. Love, Dad | Dear Jake, You did it! 51: Best Friend | "A true friend is the greatest of all blessings." | Ecclesiastes 4:10 "If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!" You are an awesome man of God. The anointing He has placed on your life has not only radically changed my life, but also spread throughout the other people in your life. I'm just glad I'm able to call you my best friend. I know that God has plans for you (Jeremiah 29:11), and I can't wait to see what those are. You've helped me whenever I've been down, and likewise I've helped you up. You've been my inseparable accountability partner since you first came to Christ. Whether it's been leaving behind a trail of laughter, mayhem, and witness everywhere we've gone together, or if we've just hung out, we've had a lot of fun. But also, we've been serious, relying on God when we need to. I've seen that a lot in you. You have a hunger for God that's incredible. Keep it up. Whether you spend all your free time discipling someone or begin every decision with "is this what God wants?", you have a heart after God.. And that means you're incredible. Just keep it up and I know God will get you there. Even though we are moving to separate colleges, God saw fit to put us both within Texas. He just wanted to spread the Jacob and Josh butter across two universities. Still, that isn't far enough to keep us from getting together, having fun, and spreading Jesus. I'm so glad I have a best friend full of Jesus. And I'm so glad I had the guts to invite you to church back in sixth grade. It's changed our lives. Stay Christ-filled, my bro. Love, Josh

This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvelous thing; it cannot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is a sort of divine accident, and the most wonderful of all things in life.”

74: Jake, I remember the first moment our eyes ever met (: There was something about you, something about your eyes, that made me weak, something that got me hooked, something I needed more of and still cant get enough of. We've been through everything together, good, bad, and yes, even ugly, haha.. but we have always had each other, even when we couldn't reach out and say so.(: But there's something that makes us different, stronger than the rest, able to climb every mountain and withstand any battle.. We have Jesus(: And I'm so completely and totally amazed that I've found someone so amazing to share my faith with. No matter what mistake I make next, or how hard I fall, I know that you'll be there beside me, as a brother in Christ, being there to hold me. You have an amazing heart, and God has called you to serve him on the front line and overcome this crazy world. You should know that I'm there beside you to lift you up every step of the way, and I believe in everything you do.. and hopefully all the choices you make haha(: I love you with everything I am, and everything I want to be. You've changed my life, and I'm so excited to see you grow even more. I love you baby and I'll stand up with you forever(: -Britt (the game.) Hahaha(:

80: Perseverance When all the world is looming dark And things seem not so clear, When shadows seem to hover 'round Lord, may I persevere. When it seems everything's been tried And there's no way to go, Just let me keep remembering Sometimes the journey's slow. I may just need to stop and rest Along the path I trod, A time to try to understand And have my talk with God. As I gain new strength to carry on Without a doubt or fear, Somehow I know things will be right, And so, I persevere. -Anne Stortz | Bridge Builder An old man going down a lone highway Came in the evening cold and gray To a chasm vast and deep and wide Through which was flowing a sullen tide. The old man crossing in the twilight dim; That swollen stream held no fears for him; But he turned when safe on the other side And built a bridge to span the tide. "Old man," said a fellow pilgrim near, "You are wasting your strength with building here; Your journey will end with the ending day; You never again must pass this way; You have crossed the chasm deep and wide- Why build you this bridge at the eventide?" The builder lifted his old gray head. "Good friend, in the path I have come," he said, "There followeth after me today. A youth whose feet must pass this way. This swollen stream which was naught to me To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be; He, too, must cross in the twilight dim; Good friend, I am building the bridge for him." -Will Allen Dromgoole | So follow you heart and never give up, as dreams and wishes do come true, for I know that someday we'll meet again, so never forget I will be praying for you. -Leilani Petersen | Goodbye My Dearest Friend The hardest part of any friendship is when it is time to say goodbye, and even though I wish I could make you stay, I know I got to let you spread your wings and fly. For life is a journey that needs to be traveled, and I am certain you'd make it through, I just want you to know and never forget that I will surely miss you.

81: "Helping the deaf to communicate was Alexander Graham Bell's motivation for his life's work, perhaps because his mother and wife were both deaf. "If I can make a deaf-mute talk," Bell said, "I can make metal talk." For five frustrating and impoverished years, he experimented with a variety of materials in an effort to make a metal disk that, vibrating in response to sound, could reproduce those sounds and send them over an electrified wire. During a visit to Washington, D.C., he called on Joseph Henry, a scientist who was a pioneer in research related to electricity. He presented his ideas to him and asked his advice: Should he let someone else perfect the telephone, or should he do it himself? Henry encouraged him to do it himself, to which Bell complained that he lacked the necessary knowledge of electricity. Henry's brief solution was, "Get it." So Bell studied electricity. A year later when he obtained a patent for the telephone, the officials in the patent office credited him with knowing more about electricity than all the other inventors of his day combined. Hard work. Study. Hope. Persistence. These are all common things. They are the keys, however, to doing uncommonly well." (God's Little Devotion Book, pg 30-31)

82: Finally the Harder Things Friends that are in Heaven now. We grieve that they are separated from us, but celebrate their lives, the time we had with them, and that they are now with the Father Almighty. | End Of A Perfect Day By Carrie Jacobs Bond Song When you come to the end of a perfect day, And you sit alone with your thoughts, While the chimes ring out with a carol gay For the joy that the day has brought, Do you think what the end of a perfect day Can mean to a tired heart, When the sun goes down with a flaming ray, And the dear friends have to part? Well, this is the end of a perfect day, Near the end of a journey, too; But it leaves a thought that is big and strong, With a wish that is kind and true. For mem’ry has painted this perfect day With colours that never fade, And we find, at the end of a perfect day, The soul of a friend we’ve made. | Hunter Colvin Died 3/20/2011

83: Hyatt Ebeling Died 1/31/2009 | Anthony Nunn Died 5/2011 | Josh (J.B.) Brown Died 3/20/2011

87: Graduation Prayer by Mary Fairchild | Bright hope conducts this prayer, For I know the plans You have for me Were wrought with divine care. Holy Spirit, lead me. Let me run at your command, Yet be still and know that You are God When trouble’s close at hand. Your Word will be a lamp for me, A guide to light my way, A solid place to set my feet, A compass when I stray. May I live my life to praise You, Not for fortune, nor for fame, May everything I say and do Bring glory to your name. May my eyes stay fixed upon You As I seek the way that’s pure, Tasting your love and goodness Sleeping and rising secure. Planted by your living streams I’ll delight in all your ways, Hidden by your sheltering wings With new mercies for each day. Even in a dangerous land When storms threaten to destroy, At the cross I’ll stand upon the Rock My Strength, my Hope, my Joy. Dear Lord, show me your favor, At all times keep me blessed, May your face ever shine upon me, With peace and perfect rest.

88: I hope your dreams take you to the corners of your smiles, to the highest of your hopes, to the windows of your opportunities, and to the most special places your heart has ever known.

89: "No temptation[ has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[ he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. " -1Corinthians 10:13 | Graduation June Third Two Thousand Eleven
