S: Kat's High School Graduation 2011
BC: You should thank us for not putting in more embarrassing pictures. It's because we love you. But don't ever forget we have them.
To Kat, on her graduation from Valley High School May, 2011. | From Brian and Lindsay
We have watched you grow up from the time you were born. We remember your earliest Christmases, the way that your toddler face would scrunch up when you were making a point, and how you would always keep up with the big kids. It has always clear that you would do things your own way - you pocketknife! - but we have never met someone who charted their own way so beautifully, so thoughtfully and with so much sass.
Plus, you were just a super cute little kid.
Though really, we could just say that you're super cute, regardless of age.
Now that you're older, the three of us are always up to something...
Sometimes, we let Mom and Dad in on the act.
And you've always been surrounded by your extended family.
As siblings, we may have, at times, involved you in situations that have gotten a bit ridiculous.
You have not always been amused.
At other times, you have not required much persuading.
 Or no persuasion at all.
Let's just say that there have been shenanigans.
Though it should be clearly stated that we never put you in the dryer.
Of course, it hasn't all been silliness. Our family values learning, and we have always been impressed by your sharpness, intelligence, and enthusiasm for the Presidents Game.
You have become a strong leader and role model in the church, committed to your faith and to service.
You got interested in the water at a young age... | ...which led to synchronized swimming...
Where you have become an athlete, | A competitor, | And a leader. | (As well as a heavy consumer of Knox gelatin and sequins)
We have celebrated many birthdays together...
...you have gotten to know our friends...
And shared many vacations, spanning the country. Somehow, the most memorable involve freak snowstorms, freak heat waves, freaks, and motion sickness. And of course, a lot of fun.
Though on some level, you will always be our Big Junior Taster...
...somewhere along the line, you started to grow up.
Learning to appreciate spectator sport... | ... or at least the value of good team spirit.
And the art of looking good.
You have also watched us grow up... | ... going off, sometimes years at a time, to different states and different countries...
...and while you may not have been physically with us when we went... | ...these journeys have become part of you, and there are so many people around the world who have heard all about you.
Let us say from experience that no matter how exciting it can be to venture off, it can also be hard to leave home. Yet somehow, you have always managed to ease the way. You prepare the best send-offs, thoughtfully crafted, often with cake. Perhaps even more importantly, you have always been there to welcome us back.
Now it's our turn to send you off, to new adventures and new places. While it's a little bit hard to see our baby sister leave home, we know that you will do amazing things. We should know - we've been the ones there all along, as you have become the incredible person that you are. | But Kathleen, know that no matter wherever you may wander, whoever you may encounter, however long you may be gone, we will always be there for you, and always here to welcome you back home. Congratulations, Kathleen. We love you!
