FC: The Giver Review By David

If I was living in Jonas’s world, it would be nice how there would not be any problems, and no one would ever feel pain. Some bad things about living in Jonas’s world would be there would be no adventure, no color, no choice, no religion, no love no nothing. You would not live your life but merely read your life, like you are reading from a script. Your life would pass by just like everyone else's before and after you. If you were a person like Jonas you could have the motivation to change life for the better. | Jonas's World Good or BAD?

The Giver is a futuristic book because in the memories they are remembering how life used to be. At the end of the book The Giver when Jonas climbs the hill with Gabe and sees the place of his memory. I think that Jonas dies because his memory has been passed down from generations of Givers so the likely hood that place would stay the same for hundreds of years is | very low. Also why would there be a sled waiting for them atop the hill? The book said that the people where waiting for them how would they know they where coming? If Jonas's community was so futuristic why was the place at the end of the book like life is now or even before our time? If I was the author of this book I would make the ending more clear but I like the way it sort of leaves you hanging waiting for the next book. | Explanation

Being released could be a good thing or a bad thing most likely a bad thing. When Jonas learns what being released is(being euthanaized) his thoughts change entirely about the community. Some people do know about the true releasing. They just don’t care because they do not have deep consciences that tell them that killing anybody is bad. So they can not tell the difference of good and bad for such a serious issue. | Release

It was almost December and Jonas was scared of turning twelve. Twelve is when the former 11 year olds get there life assignment or job. | Jonas’s family then got to take home a new-child named Gabe, after swearing not to get emotionally attached to him. Soon after Jonas starts to feel love, so his parents give him a pill to stop the so called “stirrings”. Jonas is surprised when he receives the appointment of Receiver of Memory. The community does not feel love, pain, anger etc, so they rely on the Receiver to tell them what to do in the few situations that these occur in.

After receiving many memory’s of love, war, pain happiness something strange happens to Jonas he begins to see color, this is called “seeing beyond”. Having the ability to see beyond Jonas noticed that his community has many problems the biggest being no choices. | This bird represents Jonas's ability to see color. It also represents how when Jonas and Gabe left the community they became free like the bird.
