S: 35 Anniversary Trip 2011
FC: October 4 - November 1, 2011 | Paris, Pisa, Tuscany, Civitavecchia, Messina, Malta, Kusadasi, Chania, Rome
Paris | We flew from Halifax to Montreal/Paris arriving on Oct 5. Stayed at Atlanda Frochet (two single beds pushed together)! Lots of laughs! Bought ourselves a hop on hop off pass for the local tourist bus/metro and away we went! Weather mostly cooperated but the second day was cold/cloudy and windy.
Food was awesome and the wine was great!
PISA | We flew from Paris to Pisa on Oct 7. Arrived at the small airport in Pisa no customs waiting or anything! We checked into our hotel, dumped our bags and raced to the leaning tower! We tried pushing her up but....
The weather was beautiful and Pisa was all you read about...its small and quaint, clean and quiet. The leaning tower is amazing both in daylight and dark! We had our first Italian meal in a small little restaurant where they spoke no English but it didn't matter. Our meal was delicious and the atmosphere was exciting!
Oct 8 we took the "bullet" train from Pisa to Arezzo Italy which took us through Florence. We rented a car in Arezzo and stayed in a house called Casa Verdi in the heart of Tuscany. | Tuscany
Yummy Tiramisu! just about every lunch/dinner we ate in a restaurant we would "split" a dessert. By far this one was our favorite!
Walking was never an effort especially when you got to the top and soaked in the view and treated yourself to refreshments at the local watering hole! | The Vineyards
 Local restaurant and a backyard!
Everyday was a new adventure in a new direction
Casa Verdi our villa for the week | Maria lived down over the hill from us and she was the caretaker. She lived all by herself and farmed her small modest farm. While we were there she broke her arm which would make her chestnut harvest difficult.
 Our Place
October 15 drove back to Arezzo returned our rent a car, boarded the train for Civitavecchia to board our cruise ship! We stayed over night at Hotel Traiano.
It was amazing to explore so many countries in a few short days. We enjoyed being treated special on the ship with lots of people from all over the world!
We found we were pinching ourselves when we were in Rome because it was hard to believe we were actually there leaving our fingerprints all over the history we had only seen in pictures or read about. It was an experience we will never forget! | Our Apartment
 Spanish Steps
so much to see and explore!
