FC: My Trip to Costa Rica

Getting there is half the battle | The first leg of the trip required a stop in Miami, FL for a night. I stayed in a hotel with some fellow ISV travelers. | The flight from Miami to San Jose was short so we were low enough to see some beautiful scenery from the air! | June 29th, 2007

...waiting to leave for our service projects. | Our First day was spent in San Jose ...

The next day we traveled by van, then by bus, to our home in Gulfo Dulce.

We arrived late at night to our beautiful house in the jungle | We spent two weeks in the rustic, mountain-top Adepas Biological Reserve

We spent countless hours walking back and forth to our host family's house for meals.

For the first few days we went on long nature hikes to learn about animal markings and behaviors. | "The friends we meet on the path of life make the trip worth while."

 FUN | in | the | SUN

Gulfo Dulce | Independence Day! | Much of our time in Gulfo Dulce was spent researching dolphins, either by boat or from shore. We also spent plenty of time just hanging out on our porch.

Time to TRAVEL | We left Gulfo Dulce by boat in the middle of the night so we could catch an early bus across the bay. There was a lightning storm and we had to wade to shore. Scary! We then took an 8 hour bus ride to San Jose so we could begin the adventure tour part of the trip.

White Water Adventure! | Rios Tropicales

We began our adventure tour with a three day white water rafting trip. We stayed at a beautiful jungle lodge for two nights. The second day way spent exploring the area and jumping off waterfalls into the river. So FUN!

On the third day we awoke in the jungle lodge and rafted down river to our bus. | Pura Vida!

Dole Banana Farm | After rafting we traveled to an amazing eco-lodge, On the way we stopped at a banana farm

 so very | RELAXING

Evergreen Lodge -July 16th- | Massages!

We traveled by river boat from our lodge to the town of Tortuguero.

We spent July 19th at Arenal Mundo Aventura enjoying zip-lines and a 300 ft repel. We also learned about the Maleku tribe with a visit to their village.

Thermal Hot Springs in La Fortuna

After a night at the hot springs we traveled up the "green mountain" | In "Monteverde" we stayed at an amazing resort called Hotel El Establo

While hiking in the cloud forest we were lucky enough to see the endangered Quetzal.

We spent the morning horseback riding through a coffee farm in Monteverde. | -July 21st-

 Horse Back Riding

We stayed at this hotel on the beach for one night while we traveled south to our last destination of the trip.

 Playa Ocotal

To get to the Ocotal Beach Resort and Marina we took small boats across the open ocean, one of the boats broke down and had to be pulled the rest of the way.

This national park was truly a hidden paradise!

Beautiful. Sunset. Amazing. Perfect. Colorful. Breezy. Relaxing. Beautiful. Sunset. Colorful. Amazing. Breezy. | Beautiful. Sunset. Amazing. Perfect. Colorful. Breezy. Relaxing. Beautiful. Sunset. Colorful. Amazing. Breezy.

 Already time to go home!
