FC: 2010

We started our adventure with John and Shelly Tiefenthaler on March 1, 2010. We flew into Cozumel and stayed at the Park Royal resort- beautiful place to stay. During our stay we where able to "let our hair down", John made the best of this statement. In the airport I gave a band-aid to a young lady that had a cut her hand, only to find out later that Kerry and her husband Bill were staying at our resort- we all became fast friends. I found that my husband is quite the haggler- I came home with very nice jewelry, thanks Doo-glas. One of the days we took a jeep tour of the island, we had the best tour guides ever- Doug and John would agree. The guys even had a chance to deep sea fish while Shelly and I went shopping to increase Mexico's economy. Oh the fun we had and the stories to tell...

 Park Royal

This is the Park Royal! Amazing views, lush grounds, beautiful rooms, 2 swimming pools with bars, white beach, good food, friendly staff, snorkeling off the resort beach, and the list goes on... can't wait to go back!

 Senior Frogs and Margaritaville

 what a day...

We spent a day on a jeep tour of the island, Doug and John drove our jeeps. First stop was snorkeling at Chunchakaab reef- WOW! The beach was a beautiful white color, we saw a small stingray, and the fish where so vibrant. Next stop was to the Celarain lighthouse at Punta Sur. Shelly walked to the top for some awesome views. Then we were off to a crocodile farm.

 Gross iguanas everywhere.

One of the last stops on our jeep adventure was to the Hacienda Antigua tequila history/manufacturing tour- we enjoyed the taste testing! The final stop was at the San Gervasio Mayan ruins. This was one of my favorite stops of the day! I loved the history and the architecture of the site. Doug's favorite part of the trip was the free, all-you-can-drink mini Coronas! Nothing better than drinking and driving in Mexico, and no one cares! | Agave plants | Tequila tour guide

Tumba del Caracol Mayan ruin by Punta Sur | Doug and I at the entrance of the San Gervasio village | Ruins at San Gervasio honoring the goddess Ix Chel

Friends | Bill and Kerry | Breakfast buddies

 Luis | Doo-glas | Jimmy

At dusk when the cruise ships leave it's beautiful. "Nightlife" at the resort and in town was awesome! We danced, sang, laughed, people watched, drank, saw unexpected body parts, kissed (mmm...buttered rum), and many more memories where made. John has his own "monkey dance". My tip/advise from our trip is, stay away from too many of the blue margaritas from Margaritaville, they taste great but they have quite a kick... memory lose may occur! | Ooooh I, Love The Nightlife, I Got To

Boogie On The Disco 'round, Oh Yea...

This was our last full day in Cozumel. We started the day pool-side with a drink in hand and an ocean view. Snorkeling and deep sea fishing to follow. | As promised, every morning the guys had a pina colada, usually followed by a dirty monkey or two...

Snorkeling at our resort. | While snorkeling Doug and I saw a baby octopus. The water here is so beautiful, with multiple layers of blue and green.

deep sea fishing | the boat they got! | The boat they would love to fish from... | the boat they hoped they would get...

The guys were up early and looking forward to deep sea fishing.the first boat was in a wreck, or so they were told. they waited until early afternoon before they could go and fished off of a tiny, almost seaworthy boat. John used a one-of-a-kind fishing pole, and caught fish (Doug not so lucky). the "captain" drank a third of their beer (they only had 12 cans for the trip). It was a good day, they got some sun... and the "SS Minnow" didn't ship wreck or sink! | a fishing tale...

Per one of the resort employees, "What happens in Cozumel... didn't happen"?! OR did it? Well, maybe...

Before leaving Cozumel a bottle of tequila broke in our suitcase causing "a liquid" to spill and leak all over the place. The airport then placed the suitcase in a huge clear plastic bag. We made it back through customs with no problems. When I saw the bag all I could think of was "who has the white trash suitcase", and then realized, oh yea, that's ours!
