S: Cyprus & Egypt - 2008
BC: For Joshua & Chris
FC: Cyprus & Egypt Oct/Nov 2008 Jim, Terri, Chris, & Joshua Freeman
Paphos, on the Island of Cyprus! After our whirlwind touring in Rome, we have come here to just relax! Feeling glad to have Chris back home from his mission, we enjoyed an opportunity to just "be" as a family. Cyprus was beautiful, warm, sunny--and so friendly. Here we see Chris & Joshua hanging out by our villa! Note its name--Cyprus was said to be the home of the Goddess Aphrodite! | We saw banana trees everywhere! | Cyprus
On our first night we went for a drive to explore and found ourselves on a gorgeous beach made up of stone formations. No one else was around, so it felt like the beach was our own. It was nearing dusk so our time was limited, but it made for some striking photos.
Legend has it that the Goddess Aphrodite came often to this very pool to bathe . . . | Baths of Aphrodite
Today we took a boat cruise along the coast of Cyprus, near Paphos. Beautiful sights! Perfect day! | Boat Cruise! | Only decent photo of Terri in Cyprus--she WAS there!
Stone Beach where we hung out the night before!
 Chris testing his sea legs!
Nothing like a day at the beach!
The Villages of Cyprus | Following various maps and ambiguous instructions from a local artist that Terri had befriended, we set out on a drive to find and explore some local villages. On these pages are some of the lovely sights we saw.
 . . . for honoring saints
 Public Mailbox
Such a unique and personal cemetery! | Bye Bye, Cyprus! Thank You!
From Cyprus, you can take a one-day tour of Cairo & the pyramids. Terrific opportunity! So we hopped on the plane very early in the morning and headed for a whirlwind day in Egypt! Turn the pages for a few of the sights we enjoyed . . .
Can't believe we're in front of the REAL Sphinx!
Wow, these pyramids are smaller than they look!
 Sand Storm!
Bet you thought the pyramids were way out in the desert! | The Nile!
These little taxis were a common sight.
Bow down before the new King Tut! Ahh . . . but which one? (In a jewelry store)
Mosque where we heard the beautiful evening call to prayer | Very lively outdoor market!
 . . . and they rode off into the sunset . . .
