We arrived in Destin at 10am after a 13 hour car ride. This was our 2nd trip to Florida in 6 weeks but it was worth it. After settling in we went to Baytowne Wharf. The kids needed to stretch their legs and we were ready to relax.
Our second stop of the night was a sunset cruise on the Miss Florida. We boarded around 545pm & headed out into the Destin Bay & Gulf of Mexico. We were pretty lucky we picked this week to go because it rained the week before & after, flooding both times.
Whale of a | TIME | We spent the 2 hour cruise searching for dolphins & waiting for the sun to set. We saw plenty of dolphins & captured some on camera. Sunsets over the ocean have to be the most beautiful amazing ones.
The second morning was an early one. We were up at 6am to get dressed, fed & to the pier by 7:30am. Let me start by saying it was so worth it. We headed out with our guides David & Kyle & they were fantastic. They showed us around the harbor area & taught us how to use the gear. It took us about 30 minutes to get to our first snorkeling spot & the water was bright blue & clear as glass.
Just | BEACHY | We were told we could find hermit crabs, sea horses, crabs and tons of fish. Too bad there wasn't any sea turtles.

SWIMMING | The second stop on our snorkeling tour was more on a beachy area. Although we didn't do much snorkeling at this spot, we still enjoyed it. Imagine getting anything you wanted out here. There's a guy on a jet ski that delivers pizza, ice cream boats & bars. I don't know about you but that's my kind of beach.

Parasailing | After our snorkeling adventure we returned to the house, showered up & headed out to parasail. We split up into two groups, guys & girls. We drove out into the bay, they hooked us up & off we went. The ride lasted about 10 minutes. That may not seem like a lot but it was long enough for me. I can cross that off my bucket list & move on the next thing.

Dad... Their son's first hero & daughter's first love.
We were in Destin for Father's Day & decided to them out to eat instead of having them cook & be in the heat. We went to a restaurant called Village Door. They had seafood, burgers & baskets. We really enjoyed ourselves. The best part was being there with our family.
 Gator World
Before heading out on the air boats we visited an alligator farm. We were able to walk around and meet some gators and even got to hold one named Thing 1.
On Sunday, we drove out to Panama City in hopes of seeing some alligators on an air boat ride aboard the Swampvette. While we didn't see any alligators on the actual boat ride, we did see MORE DOLPHINS! The boat ride was pretty neat – the bottom of the boat is flat and can glide on just a few inches of water. In the event that you don't see any alligators on the trip, the company offers a small alligator exhibit, in which you can hold baby alligators – we definitely took advantage of that photo op!
After our air boat ride, we headed to St. Andrews State Park, where we rented 2 pontoon boats for the afternoon. We loaded up, the guys were given driving instructions, & away we went, heading out to Shell Island. After the guys found a spot to anchor up, the kids hopped off & headed straight for the beach area with their boogie boards. Then it was time for the adults to get off the boat & that didn't go as well as it had for the kids..
The accident... | Dr. Elisha Ramos, MD. Seaspray Med Clinic 32 Windrift Dr. Miramar Beach, FL 32550 350-SEA-PEST *** Specializes in sea urchin stings*** | This is the little stinker everyone stepped on.
Unfortunately, one of the ladies stepped directly onto a sea urchin when she tried to get off the boat. With a foot full of sea urchin needles, the guys got her back on the boat and the rest of the ladies stayed with her and played nurse. We have since renamed Shell Island to Sea Urchin Island, as after looking more closely in the water, we saw that there were tons of them between the boat and the beach. Everyone wore shoes in the water after that. Once we got back to the house we tried a home remedy that one of the locals told us about. Yvette wanted to use a fish hook but Veronica wasn't liquored up enough to fall for that. A total of 5 people in our group got poked by these creatures. | Doctor to the rescue...
On our last day in Destin, we decided to relax and hang out at the beach. We went to the Sandestin beach area and spent the afternoon soaking up some rays and cooling off in the water. The kids had a blast battling the waves and playing on their boogie boards. They even took some time to play in the sand a little.

Last stop was the Sandestin Pool... A nice change from the sea water & a nice end to our trip. Now it was time to head home & pack up. It was going to be an early morning.
My favorite souvenir said: You're only as good as the drinks you mix, the tables you dance on & the friends you roll with. 100% agree!
A special thanks to the dads who got us there and back safely. Happy Father's Day Carlos, James, Owen & Tony we love you...
