FC: Europe 2012 | Hallstatt | Vienna | Fussen | Austria | Germany | Murren | Switzerland | Luzern | Zurich | LONDON | England

Off to Vienna | Our first double decker plane. | We survived without A/C!

 The Vienna State Opera House

This is the Habsburg monarchy's summer residence. | The inside was lovely, but the gardens were the highlight! The grounds also included a zoo & labyrinth made out of hedges.

Schonbrunn Palace | Gloriette | Big ole fountain | View of the palace & gardens from behind the monster fountain

In and About Vienna | St Stephen's Cathedral | These views are from the south tower. Note the elaborately tiled roof.

This was so cool! They put a big screen up on the side of City Hall and showed an opera for all to enjoy for free under the stars. | The Hofburg Palace by day... and by night... | Mozart Monument | Strauss Monument

Next on the itinerary... Hallstatt Austria

We stayed at Gasthof Simony and had a beautiful lakeside view from our balcony. | The town square was so quaint! I loved this picturesque little house. | Adam threw up in a planter just under this window. Eww.

SALT MiNE TOUR | We took a funicular up above the lake and donned our "uniforms" to tour the world's oldest salt mine. I fit right in with my Asian cousins. | The best part was the slide!

We snapped a couple pics at the lookout before hiking back down to town.

Dachstein Mountain Cable Car and Ice Caves | This was called the 5 Fingers. Pretty crazy hanging over the cliff! | We rode a cable car up from the bottom of the mountain before doing some hiking and finally touring an ice cave. | Aerial view of Hallstatt

Adam had two firsts: glacier sledding and sledding in shorts! | ice cave

We rented a little electric boat our last night in Hallstatt and roamed the peaceful lake. | Gasthof Simony where we stayed. | Our boat | Hallstatt Boat Time

Nest stop Bavaria... FUSSEN, GERMANY | Our hotel | This was our room | The River Lech was a beautiful green color | Awesome 3D painted walls!

 The King's Castles | Mary's Bridge | Neuschwanstein Castle | Hohenschwangau Castle

The Tegelberg Luge | The luge course was amazing! You're pulled to the top by cables before sailing through the Bavarian countryside hoping the person behind you doesn't run you over! Ha! | Going up! | Coming down! | The sled | You push the stick forward to go fast and pull it toward you to slow down.

Murren Switzerland | Murren is a car-free, mountainside town in the Berner Oberland region accessible only by train or cable car. | We stayed at the Eiger Guesthouse | Woohoo for clean clothes! | They really seemed to like yard gnomes over there. They were everywhere! | View from hotel patio!!

These pics are from our first hike along the North Face Trail from Murren to Gimmelwald. We got a little silly as you can see... | The fog was rolling in and out like crazy. | This sign was waiting for us in Gimmelwald. We *love* Rick Steves but didn't stick around to meet him.

After our hike we headed back to Murren for a parade. The cows led the way! | Town Parade

The Schilthorn | The 1969 James Bond movie, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" was filmed at the revolving restaurant at the top. | View of Murren from the cable car on the way up

Trummelbach Falls and Lauterbrunnen Valley | Glacier melt | Trummelbach Falls is a series of 10 glacier falls inside the mountain flowing at a rate of 5200 gallons per second!
