FC: OUR FAMILY | Jenny, Zoe,and Sage
ABOUT OUR FAMILY | Our family is active, funny, and we like to sing and dance (even though we aren't that good at it). Our family has a passion for traveling. We have been to many different places including Scotland, Honduras, and Iceland. Although we love to have game, or movie nights, we are definitely not the kind of family who hangs out around the house. We are always up and doing something!
My name is Jenny and I am 39 years old with two amazing daughters. Although I am a single mother, I do have an extensive support system of family and friends that are always readily available to assist me, if needed. My daughters are with their dad a third of the time, which I believe would provide a perfect balance for the children coming into our home, allowing them to have time with my daughters, as well as one-on-one time with me every Thursday evening and every other weekend.
I own a modest house in a culturally and economically diverse area. While our house is not large, it definitely meets our needs. It has 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. We live across the street from a park where the girls love to play soccer, do gymnastics, walk the dog, ride bikes and play tennis.
ABOUT OUR MOM Our mom is little, but has a strong and funny personality. She's an incredible teacher/mom and has always loved working with kids. We have a supportive mom who spends her time taking care of us. Whether it's doing something fun, taking us to one of our activities, or caring for us if we're sick. We love to laugh and spend time with her.
I am an experienced teacher and have worked with children who come from various walks of life. I have worked closely with students from affluent families, and currently work in a Title 1 school with students from high levels of poverty. I have taught various grade levels ranging from kindergarten through 8th grade and love all of the different viewpoints that children from different ages bring. Additionally, I have experience with children who have suffered various degrees of neglect and abuse and have had great results building positive and strong relationships with these children. I have been successful in supporting these students to grow significantly both emotionally and academically in all content areas. | ABOUT JENNY'S JOB
Because I work in a school, my schedule can be flexible, and I am able to be available to my children both before and after school. The school where I am employed has students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade, and I am fortunate to have a supportive principal who is open to the idea of my foster child/children attending the school where I work, if that is what would be best for everyone. As a teacher, I also have the same breaks and vacations as the children, which gives me and my family opportunities to have family time, travel, and camp.
ABOUT ZOE I’m Zoe. I’m 14 and enjoy rock climbing, camping, hiking, and skiing. I live with my mom and sister Sage. I feel like I bring an exciting, fun, personality to our family. My mom has impacted my life in so many ways. She encourages me to be adventurous, and do things that push me
ABOUT SAGE My name is Sage. I’m 11 years old and I love doing gymnastics, playing soccer, singing, writing poetry, and being outside. One thing I like about my mom is she always makes me laugh. She has some silly dance move, she also is very kind hearted and is always there for me.
Isis is a sweet gentle family pet. She is small and loves to snuggle up next to you. She is the oldest pet in our house. | Jasper is an adventurous young kitty who is always outside. He isn't necessarily a cuddlier, but occasionally likes to be held and pet.
Keezy is an adorable small dog. She is one tough puppy! She hikes and camps with us. She enjoys being pet and giving you kisses. | Skye is the newest edition to our pets. He is Sage's bearded dragon. He has a similar personality to Jasper and loves to explore.
Family plays a really important role in our life's. We are really close to our grandparents, great grandma, and our aunt & uncle, and they all live close by. Our grandparents enjoy taking us on trips. They also offer tons of support in helping our mom and us.
BEST FRIENDS These are best friends. We basically do everything with them. Missy (the mom) her husband and her three boys are really good friends with us. They play a big part in our lives. We ski, llama backpack, and go hiking and camping with them. Many of our experiences are shared with this family
It is so easy to write a letter of support for Jenny Oxman and her family to be selected to care for children. Jenny is a natural parent, teacher, and nurturer. She is energetic and never without enthusiasm to be part of a challenge or adventure. People gravitate toward her enthusiasm. She genuinely cares for children and understands the complicated dynamics that parents face. She is not quick to judge other families or the choices that they have made, but instead stands to support families within her classroom to evolve into stronger family units. Jenny feels like she has so much more to give as an important adult in a child’s life and I feel 100% confident that no matter the circumstance she and her girls will serve as a safe, comfortable, nurturing and fun family for any child. | What Missy says about Jenny
As a teacher and a mom, I strongly believe that all kids deserve a family and the feeling that they belong. My daughters and I are ready to open our hearts and our home to provide a safe and loving environment. We are excited for this experience, whether it is temporary or forever. While I realize this journey may not always be easy, I am definitely up for the challenge. These children are our future, and they deserve a chance to have the best possible life. I, along with my daughters Zoe and Sage, want to provide that life, and we desire the opportunity to have additional children share in our adventures and experiences.
