1: Hawaiian Vacation, May 22 - 30, 2012 North Shore on Oahu We flew out on Alaska Airlines from Oakland to Honolulu the day after the girls got out of school. We stayed at a condo near the Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore. It was 8 wonderful nights with 9 fun-filled days.
4: Day 1: After shopping for food, as we ventured from Honolulu Airport to our condo, and unpacking, it was time to start exploring. We ended the day by celebrating Kristal's 15th Birthday.
7: Happy 15th Birthday Kristal!
9: Day 2: Our first full day in Paradise begins with a search for sea life in Turtle Bay.
12: Day 3: Taking a walk along the water in the morning before heading out on our first scheduled adventure to the Polynesian Cultural Center. Oh, and we had to stop for shrimp along the way!!
18: Shrimp!!! We ate a lot of shrimp at both of these places. The girls preferred Fumis Kahuku's, while Mommy preferred Giovannis. Either way, they are both worth the stop. We all LOVED both!
19: Getting ready to spend the rest of our day at the Polynesian Cultural Center with our friends; Arvin, Kyuna, Taylor and Taryn Gonzales.
24: Let's Eat! Dinner at the Island Buffet before heading into the evening show, Ha: Breath of Life. It was another great day in Paradise.
26: Day 4: Our day began at the Gunstock Ranch as we hit the trail for a horseback ride. This was Kristal's favorite adventure.
28: After some horseback riding, it was time to do some more exploring. This is at Waimea Valley, and while we didn't actually hike up to the falls in this location, the park-like setting at the entrance was very pretty.
33: After Waimea Valley, we spent the rest of the day at Pupukea Beach Park for some snorkeling. The wide variety and abundance of sea life was amazing. The coral was also very colorful. | This was Daddy's favorite adventure.
34: Day 5: This day started with hiking in a rain forest to Manoa Falls. The light mist was perfect as we enjoyed lush foliage and giant ferns along the way. After the hike, our day continued with snorkeling, a sunset cruise, and concluded with dinner at Lachmin's apartment.
40: We have finished hiking through a rain forest up to Manoa Falls. Now it's time for some snorkeling at Hanauma Bay.
44: Hiking - check. Snorkeling - check. Now we set sail on a sunset cruise on the Island Magic catamaran. We sailed from Honolulu and passed by Waikiki Beach on our way to Diamond Head, where we turned around to enjoy the sunset on our return. This was Mommy's favorite adventure.
52: Day 6: Eating some Pineapple Ice Cream with our friends before snorkeling and swimming with some turtles at Haleiwa Ali'i Beach Park.
56: Day 7: We stayed in Turtle Bay. We walked all the way around the bay from where we are standing to the end of the point you see in the background. Along the way, we saw sea turtles, crabs, big waves, surfers and many types of sea life in the tide pools. The rest of the day was spent relaxing at the pool at our condo and just taking it easy.
66: The walk around the bay completed, we now relax in the pool. Kristal's swimsuit matched the tile in the pool. When she laid on the bottom, you could only see her arms, legs and head. It was weird looking.
68: Day 8: Our last full day was spent driving down the east coast to Kailua Beach. While it was very windy, the water was amazing. We spent over 3 hours swimming and body boarding with the sea turtles. This was Nicole's favorite adventure during our stay.
74: Day 9: Time to head back home. On our way to the airport, we had to make a stop at Pearl Harbor. God Bless America!
