Early Saturday morning we drove three hours to Austin, Texas. Chris spent the day at a bike convention and us girls went shopping all day at San Marcos Outlet Mall. We literally shopped till we dropped, and had lots of bags to show for it! | We did our homework and found the best BBQ in the state at IronWorks. We had a great meal!

After dinner, we decided to explore downtown Austin. A friend of Crystal's had recommended a great ice cream shop called Amy's. We also walked around a little and browsed the local shops. The tiny city is very unique wit h lots of eclectic eateries, shops and hangout's. It's also home to two rival colleges so there are lots of students milling around, with a big population of "hipsters". With a kind of modern day grunge look. The motto for Austin is "Keep Austin Weird". The music scene is also very big there, considered the" Live Music capitol of the world! " Tomorrow is for sight-seeing!

 Explore Austin

 Texas Longhorn Campus

 Capitol Building in Austin

Before leaving Austin, we walked along 6th Ave. A well-known street for the local bar scene. Full of clubs, souvenir shops and funky eats. We thought it would be cool to go home with an authentic pair of cowboy boots, but they were so expensive. We all loved Austin very much and not only because my son has the same name. They both have a lot of character! | Keep Austin Weird

We really enjoyed our stay in Houston with Chris and Fu Yang. We ate lots of good Chinese food and saw a bunch of cool things. Where to next!
