FC: Italian Getaway April 2007 | Milano Firenze Venezia Pisa

1: Venice is a beautiful city of canals and palaces. It is built on an archipelago of 122 islands. The Venetian islands are connected by a series of 400 bridges. St. Mark's Square (San Marco) is the center of the city. The best and cheapest way to go around the islands is by vaporetto (water bus) I find Venice very charming with its cosmopolitan air, meandering canals and old structures.....

11: Venice Lido (Lido di Venezia) is an 11 km sandbar which separates the central part of the Venetian lagoon from the Adriatic Sea. Lido is famous for the Venetian film festival held every September of the year. hey, i had another addition to my sand collection! ;)

14: Duomo di Milano took 5 centuries to complete and is the 4th largest church in the world. The first stone was laid in 1386.

15: Milan was founded by the Insubres Gaul in the 4th century BC. Today, Milan is Italy's most fashionable city and one of the richest cities in Europe. I saw many filipinos in the Piazza del Duomo during my visit.

32: PISA.........the last leg of our journey 3 friends, all excited to see the famous leaning tower of Pisa.... personally, i learned about the tower during my high school history class or was it geography? hhmmmm... i cant wait to be near it!!! another dream come true :)

34: The cathedral and the bell tower The Cathedral was erected in 1063 by the famous architect Buschetto. It is about 100 meters long and 54 meters wide It is an imposing romanesque style architecture. The Bell tower construction begun in 1173 as the last structure of the Cathedral's complex It was completed after 177 years. The tower's construction flaw is also the reason for its fame!

37: The Baptistery This grand structure stands in front of the Cathedral facade. The construction of this building started in 1153 under the supervision of the architect DIOTISALVI... work ended in the 14th century
