FC: Italy 2010 | Venice Padua Milan Cinque Terre Pisa Lucca Florence Siena Sorrento Pompeii Rome | September 10-26

1: Once upon a time, there was a boy named Nick and a girl named Tasha. Nick and Tasha saved their pennies, made some plans, booked a pair of tickets and set out to a far away land called Italy. Like any good adventure they had no idea what they were in for. But they couldn't wait to find out!

2: Venezia Venice | After a ten hour flight and jumping six hour ahead in time, we arrived at the Marco Polo Airport a little before 9am on September 11. We took the shuttle to the Piazzale Roma where we bought our vaporetto passes and set off for our hotel, the Alloggi alla Scala. | Stantiago Calatrava's Ponte della Constituzione {Constitution Bridge}, one of four bridges that span Venice's Grand Canal. | { }

4: Piazza San Marco | Surrounded by St. Mark's Basilica, the Doge's Palace, the Campanile bell tower and the Correr Museum.

5: Check out the difference when the tide is in and out! | Our first meal in Italy!

6: {St Mark's Basilica} | Basilica di San Marco | Built in the 11th century, this basilica is filled with Byzantine art. The interior glows with gold mosaics and colored marble.

8: Pala d'Oro {Golden Altarpiece} | Tesoro | {Treasury} | Venetian crusaders looted Constantinople and brought to | Venice the glories of the Byzantine Empire.

10: Torre dell'Orologio | {the Clock Tower} | Built during the renaissance in 1496, it houses the world's first "digital" clock. The bronze men (Moors) strike the bell ever hour. We took a tour of the tower and saw some amazing views of Venice!

12: San Giorgio | Our FIRST | Maggiore | cones of | Italian | gelati!

14: Gondola Ride! | The Rialto Bridge, completed in 1591, is one of the world's most famous bridges. At 95 feet long it span's Venice's Grand Canal. Our gondolier took us right underneath it!

15: Palazzo Ducale | {Doge's Palace} | Unfortunately, We were so jet lagged that we didn't hear either of our alarms and missed our tour of the Doge's Palace. We did, however, awake well rested. We grabbed lattes and chocolate croissants and toured the Palazzo Ducale on our own!

22: Orto Botanico di Padova | {Botanic Garden} | A Day in Padova Breakfast at a Cafe St. Anthony's Basilica Botanic Gardens Prato della Valle Scrovegni Chapel Lunch Catch a train to Milan

23: Milano {Milan} | Getting goofy on the train to Milan! | Once we arrived, we dropped off our bags at the Hotel Garda Milano and asked the concierge to recommend a restaurant for dinner. He sent us to a tasty spot | around the corner where we wined, dined and reflected on our day for the rest of the evening.

24: Duomo {Cathedral} | Milan's Duomo is the fourth largest church in Europe. At 525 by 300 feet, with more than 2,000 statues, 5,200 pillars and built to hold 40,000 worshipers! | September 14

26: Walking on the roof of the cathedral was breathtaking. We wandered through a forest of spires taking in unbeatable views of Milan and the Italian Alps! It was well worth trudging up steep stairs and through narrow corridors.

28: Galleria Vittorio Emanuele | We grabbed lunch in the Galleria, which was built in the 1870s. After lunch we did some window shopping and checked out the Torino mosaic.

29: Teatro alla Scala | {La Scala Opera House}

30: Castello Sforzesco {Sforza Castle} | This castle was home to the Sforza family and at one time, their guest Leonardo DaVinci. Now it contains many museums, including the Museum of Ancient Art where we saw Michelangelo's unfinished Pieta Rondanini.

31: Italians | Scooters!
